Letters Patent No. 84,493, dated December 1, 1868.
IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BOILERS.
The Schedule referred to these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
'of Indiana, have invented Improved Automatic fashers and I do hereby declare that the following, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of the invention consists in the improved construction of an adjustable interior bottom for automatic washers; said device to be made of any sheetmetal suitable and; convenient for the purpose.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my said invention, I proceed to describe it more fully, as follows:
Said 'device consists of four pieces, represented respectively by O,`D, E, and F, ofthe accompanying drawing.
These pieces are held together at G, H, I, K, L, M, and N, by means of the rivets a', b', c', d', f', g', and h', which rivets are free to slip in the slots a, b, c, d, e, f, and h.
Said device is provided with two convenient upright` spraying-tubes, represented respectively byA and B.
To use my said device, itis to be adjusted to the size of a .wash-boiler by slippingthe' rivets c, b', c', d', f', g', and h', inl the slots a, b, c, d, e, j, andh, until it is of the proper dimensions, which may be done by pressing or pulling` the outside rim of the device. Itis then placed in the Wash-boiler and the usual automatic washing-operation periorl'ned,bymeaus of which the cur rent of boilingl water ow's up through the tubes A and B, and, falling on the top of the clothes in wash; which lie on the top of the device, runs through the various apertures in the said device, and up through the tubes, so making the usual circulating current of the automatic washer.
