IIMPROVED WAGON JACK.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the sama.

To all to whom 'it 'may concern Be it known that I, HENRY WV. LONG, of the city of Council Bluii's, Pottawattomie county, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and improved J aok for Raising and Supporting Wagon-Axles and other heavy bodies 5 and I do declare the same to be fully described in the following speciiication and drawings, of which- Figure l is a perspective View ofthe jack.

. Figure 2 is a side elevation with power applied, the dotted lines showing the initiatory position ofthe lever, axle, and Wheel, and the colored drawing', the consummation of the application.

.Figure 3 is a top view of the movable clasp A in fig. l; Figure 4 is an end view of the clasp A.

Figure 5 is a pin that sustains the movable clasp A Aupon standard E, in g. 1.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, 'I give the following description.

, Out of Wood, I make the base, F, in fig. l, into which I mortise the standard E, in said iig. l, rmly, boring holes through the standard, at convenient distances, through which I insert the wood or metal pin D.

Out of metal, I make the movable clasp A, of a proper size to slip over the standard E, the said clasp having upon the lower corner of the side the hooked fulcrum b, and ,upon the opposite upper' corner of the same side the retaining hooked fulorum c, as shown in gs. l, 2,

'Out of Wood or metal, I make the lever Gr, in iig. l, which, when not in use, I standin ahole bored in base, F, to receive the same, and when eombined,ap ply as follows: Placing the jack at a convenient distance from the body which I Wish to raise and support, as shown in iig. 2, I place the lever G under the body and over the fulorum b,th,en bea-ring down the lever until it passes below the retaining-fulerum c, I swing it under the fulcrum c, and it is retained, and the body suspended and supported. What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'- 'Ihe movable clasp A, with the hooked fulera upon said clasp, in combination with the jack for raising Weights, the Whole arranged as described in the aeeompanying speoiieation.
