Description

No. 836,585. PATENTED NOV. 20, 1906.
G. D. KOESER. CORNER FASTENING. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII EG.28,1906.
UNITED STATES oARL D. KOESER, or
OSHKOSH, WISCONSIN.
CORNER-FASTENING.
.TO a, 1,077,071], 1173 may concern.-
Be it known that I, CARL D. KOESER, a citizen of the United States, of Oshkosh, in the county of Winnebago and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Corner-Fastenings, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to corner-fastenings for chairs, tables, and. the like.
My invention consists, essentially, in a tieplate having enlarged cylindrical ends adapted to be inserted in circular apertures bored in the bottom of the side rails and means for tying the tie-plate to the corner-post.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a chair with my improved tie-plate shown as applied to the corners thereof, parts of the chair being broken away. Fig. 2 represents a op plan view of my tie-plate, the same being shown as secured in a corner of a chair. Fig. 3 represents a detail perspective view of my improved tie-plate.
The drawings illustrate an adaptation of my invention to box-seat chairs.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, 2 2 represent the side rails of the chair. Into the bottom of the side rails 2 2 are bored circular apertures 8 3, extending the proper distance into the rail.
4 represents the tie-plate, preferably of i Specification of Letters Patent.
residing at the city l Patented NOV. 20, 1906.
Application filed December 28,1905. Serial No. 293,667.
I metal, having enlarged cylindrical ends 5 5. l The tie-plateis easily inserted in the apertures 3 3 and then bound to the corner-post 7 by 1 either a screw or a tie-bolt extending through 3 5 l the central aperture 6. In the drawings is j shown a T-head bolt 8, extending through I the corner-post 7 and secured by the nut 9.
In myinvention exactness in boring the holes is not necessary, and no fitting is re- 0 quired, as the tightening of the bolt binds the whole corner together. The tie-plate is preferably cast of malleable iron.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by g Letters Patent, is- 1 In an article of furniture, the combination. with a corner-post and two side rails in contact therewith, each having a vertical circular aperture formed. therein, of a tie-plate l l J I l i l comprising a body portion, enlarged cylindrical ends formed on said body portion at an angle thereto, said cylindrical ends engaging the apertures in said side rails, and means for connecting said plate to the corner-post. I In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CARL D. KOESER. Witnesses:
