clare the following to be a full, clear, and eX- act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it uppertains to make and use the same.
' This invention relates to improvements in shirts, and particularly'to neglige shirts.
The object of the invention is to provide a shirt having means whereby a pair of sus ponders may be removably secured within the same and whereby the suspenders may be worn beneath the shirt and will be out of sight when the shirt is being worn without a coat, means being provided whereby the ends of thesuspenders will be held in convenient position for attaching the same to the susender-buttons of the trousers. With the above and other objects in View the invention consists of certain novel fea tures of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figured is a front view of a shirt, showing the same opened and parts removed, the slit-covering flap on one side being turned up to more c early illustrate the arrangement of the parts. Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view of a portion of the shirt, showing the manner in which the tabs oi ends of the suspendersare held in position and in engagement with the slits in the shirt; and Fig. 3 is a detail view of the inner side of a portion of the front of a shirt and one of the sus pender-ends, showing the construction and arrangement of said parts.
Referring more articularly to the drawings, 1 denotes a s nrt which may be of any desired style, the same being here shown as a neglige shirt. In one side of the front and in the center of the back of the shirt are formed slits 2, through which the ends or tabs 30f a pair of suspenders 4 are adapted to be passed, said suspenders being arranged within the shirt.
In order that the suspenders may be sup ported or held in pro er position in the shirt, the latter is provided on the inner side of its shoulder portions with shoulder-straps. 5,
which are stitched to the shirt at intervals to form loops, through one of which a part of the Suspender is passed, thus retaining the suspenders in correct position within the shirt. Between the ends or tabs of the suspenders are secured straps 6, on the lower ends of which are formed suitable securing devices 7, said devices being here shown in the form of stud-and-loop fastenings. The securing devices 7 are adapted to be attached to the lower edge of the slits 2, and the straps 6, connected to the fasteners, are of such length that when the latter are engaged with the edge of the slits the ends of the suspenders will be held improper position to be engaged with the suspender-buttons on the trousers, thus obviating the necessity of inserting said ends or tabs of the suspenders.
through the slits each time it is desired to attach the same to the trousers.
The edges of the slits 2 are suitable manner to prevent t of, the some being here shown as bound with a separate piece of material. If desired, the slits-may be tacked at suitable intervals to separate the same into passages, through which the ends or tabs of the suspenders and the straps 6, connected thereto, are ada ted to be passed. ()n the outside of the s irt, above the slits 2, are secured fia s 8, which are adapted to project downwan ly to cover the slits, thus hiding the same from view.
In arranging the shirt and suspenders for use thclatter are placed within the shirt and are held in roper position therein by means of the shou der-straps 5 and the securing devices 7, so that when the shirt is removed the suspenders are adapted to be also removed therewith and to remain in theshirt at all times except when the latter is beinglaundered, at which time the suspenders may be readily removed by unfastening the securing devices 7.
By arranging rotected in any e fraying therea shirt and suspenders as herein shown and described the wearing of a From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.-
Various changes 1n the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be r sortd to without this invention. Having thus descnb ters Patent, is-
