KNIT MUFFLER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 21, 1906 Application filed November 18.1905. Serial No. 287.096.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX REIoHBLUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of West Virginia, have invented a new and useful Knit Muffler, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a mufiler having an adjustable neck portion; and the object of the invention is, a muffler in which the stretching of the elastic material of the neck portion by a constant use, can be taken up, or allowed for, without making any change in the fastening devices.
The invention consists in a muffler of knit goods having neck-yokes of the same material, each of which terminates in an extension formed of a woven material, with hook members carried by one piece of the saidwoven material adapted to engage the other piece.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front View of the mufller. Fig. 2 is a rear view. Fig. 3 is a plan view.
In the drawings, A indicates a mufller of knit goods having neck portions A of the same material. To the ends of each of these portions is secured a cloth extension B and C,- respectively. The extension C is preferably of greater length than the extension B, and to the free end of extension B are connected hooks D, which are adapted to engage and take hold of any portion of the extension C.
It will be obvious that the hooks D will secure a firmer hold upon a piece of woven cloth, as shown at C, than if they were engaged directly with the knit work of the portion A. It will also be obvious that as the hooks D can engage any portion of thelength of the extension C the said part C can overlap more or less the extension B, thereby adjusting the muffler to the desired neck size and also taking up the stretch of the knit portions A through use.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A knit mufiler having neck portions of the same material, a cloth extension carried by the free end of each neck portion, and hooks carried by one of said extensions, adapted to engage directly any portion of the cloth extension carried by the other neck portion.
