UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FANNIE DOUGHTY, OF HARPUR HILL, BUXTON, ENGLAND.
DEVICE FOR USE IN CARRYING PARCELS, 86C.
I SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 722,956, dated March 17, 1903.
Application filed December 5, 1901. Serial No. 84,781. (No model.)
Be it known that I, FANNIE DOUGHTY, a
subject of the King of Great Britain, resid-F ing at Harpur Hill, Buxton, in the county of Derby, England, have invented certainvnew and useful Improvements in Devices for Use in Oarrying Parcels and the Like; and 'I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to parcel-carriers; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
The figure of the drawing represents a perspective view of the invention.
In the representation shown in the figure of the drawing the device is formed with two loop portions a a, each adapted to receive a cord or strap 13 around the parcel. In such a case it is intended that the parcel be provided with two cords or straps. The central portion a of the device is enlarged, so as to be held by two fingers, while the side portions a a by one finger each, and the outer end edges of said portions a a are flattened and curved downwardly, as at (1?, so as to project out of line with the side edges of curved portionsas a, and the strip is widened at said ends for the purpose of giving the fingers of the hand a more secure hold. The portion a is curved the same as the portions a a and is formed of a size larger than the outer ones a a, so as to receive the two middle fingers 'of the hand, and the convenience of the device is thereby increased.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a device for carrying parcels and the like, the same consisting of a piece of metal bent to form loops having at their upper portions a central and outer curved portions, the central one of which is of a size larger than the outer ones, and the outer ones having their outer end edges flattened and curved downward and out of line with the outer edges of said curved portions, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses'.
