Specification of Letters Patent Patented Aug. 21, 1906.
Application filed April 28, 1905- Serial Nc-..257,852.
.' fi o-all whom it may c07coern.-'
Be it known'that I, CHARLES H. FOSTER, a c tizen of the United States, residin at the cltyof St. Louis, State of Missouri, ave invented a certain new and useful Boiler-Stand,
of which the following is such a full, clear,
A, and exact description as will enable any one skilled m'the art to which it appertains to make and use the-same, reference-being had to the accom anying drawings, forming part of the speci cation.
In a prior application, Serial No. 231,324,
I filed by me November 4, 1904, I have shown stand somewhat similar to the one above reand described a boiler-stand adapted to engage w1th the curved lower end of a rangeoiler within the flange thereof.
The present application relates to a boilerferred to, but which is arran edto on age with the lower edge of the Tango itseTf'in place of with the'bottom of the boiler within the flange, and consequently can be used on range-boilers of any kind without regard to the shape of the bottom. 1
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate a stand made in accordance with my invention, Fi ure l'is a side elevation of the stand, toget or with aportion'of the boiler carried thereby. Fig.2 is a top plan view of the stand as shown 'in Fig. -1; and Figs. 3 and 4 are enlarged end and side views, respectively, of the upper end of one oi the supporting members.
Like marks of reference refer to similar parts the several views of the drawings.
- The stand is composed of supporting memof the supporting members 10 is provided atbers 19, preferably three in number. Each its lower end with a foot 11 and at its='upper end with an extension '12, carrying the beara ing for engaging with the boiler, as will be hereinafter described. In the form of stand shown in Figs. 1 and '2 each of the supportingv members 10 is provided with a curved wing 11, the three wings 14 being so shaped as to ,members 10; is providedwith a lug 18, ex-
tendingradially inward. Each of the lugs 18 is provided with a slot 19.
20 represents bearing-pieces, one of which is pivoted to'each of the lugs 18 by means of a bolt 21 passing through an opening in the said bearing and through the slot 19 of said lug and provided with a nut 22. end of each of the bearing-pieces 20 is provided with a finger 23 for engaging with the v periphery of the boiler 24, while the upper edge of the said bearing-piece 20 is adapted to engage with the lower edge of the flange of said boi er. The slot 19 allows the bearingpiece 20 to be adjusted readily, so as to adapt the stand to boilers of difi eren-t diameters.
25 is a stop carried byeach of the lugs 18 The outer and projecting over the upper edge of the the upper end of the member 12. This wedge may be a thin strip of metal 26, as shown in Fig. 3. The upper end of the member 12 is preferably provided witha guide 27 for guiding the vertical movement of the bearingiece 20. It will be readily apparent that by oosening the nuts 22 the bolts 21 can move in the slots 19, so as to allow the radial adjustment of the-bearingpieces 20, in order that their fingers 23 may be brought against the peripheries oi' boilers of difierent sizes and that the boiler can be readily trued or plumbed by inserting wedges 26 under one or more of the bearing pieces 20, as maybe required.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is 1. In a boilerstand, the combination with a plurality of connected supports formin a base, of a radially and vertically adjustable bearing for the boiler carried by the upper end of each of said su ports.
2. In a boiler-stand the combination with a plurality of connected supports formin a base, of a radially and vertically adjustable bearing for the boiler carried by the upper end of each of said supports, and means for fastening said bearings in position.
Some distance is left be.

3. In a boiler-stand, the combination with vertical movement of said sliding member, a plurality of connected supports forming a and means for fastening said member in posibase, of a radially-sliding member carried on tion. the upper end of each of said supports and In testimony whereof I have hereunto set 15 -5 vertically adjustable, and means forlimiting my hand and aflixed my seal in the presence the vertical movement of said sliding memoff the two subscribing Witnesses.
4 In a boiler-stand, the combination with CHARLEO FQSTLR a supporting-base, of a radially-sliding'mem- Witnesses: 10 her carried on the 11 per end of said base ,and W. A. ALEXANDER. vertically-adjustabl means for limiting the l BENNETTE PIKE.
