IMPROVEMENT IN DIES FOR STAMPING STOVE-PIPE DAMPERS.

TO ALL WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ISAAC VAN HAGEN, of Chicago, in the county of Cook, and State of Iliinois, vhave invented a Die for Stamping Dampers; and I do hereby declare that the' following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters marked thereon, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspctive representation of the movable part of the die, and
Figure 2 a perspective representation of the stationary part.
Figure 3 a section of the die in posi-tion for use.
This invention relates to the construction of a die, especially designed for stamping or forming stove-dampers from a single piece of sheet metal, and, as will be readily understood, the two faces of the dies will be the exact reverse counterparts of the sides of the damper when stamped. I
The dies are made of iron, and circular, and the part or bed-piece, G, has two V-shaped projections, D F,
fitting in corresponding depressions,B, in the movable part A, and the part G has a. depression or groove, E, fitting?,
a V-shaped projection on the part A, as seen atE. These projections and depressions form semi-rectangular loops in the damper, through which the rod passes.
That part of the de shown at A, may be either fastened to a plunger, or otherwise secured, so as to operate on the hed-piece G, there being many ways of operating the movable part, and I am not particular as to the method employed.
I am well apprised of the fact that. dies for stamping sheet metal' are very common, and that their use is well known, but I consider the peculiar form shown in the drawings possesses a novelty not heretofore known or used.
Having thus Adescribed my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United A. die, A G, the movable part, A, of which has a V-shaped projection, C, fitting in a corresponding depression, E, in the stationary part G, and the stationary part G having V-shaped projections D F, ttng in depressions B B in the movable part A, as and for the purpose described. l
I. VAN HAGEN.
