Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 5, 1906.
Application filed June 13,1905. Serial No. 265,028.
T0 61; whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, OORNELIA B. HoToH- KISS, a'citizen of the United States, residin at Watertown, in the county of Litchfiel and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Ladys Hat-Hanger, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a device upon which a hat or bonnet can behung or supported; and the object of the invention is a hanger which will support the hat in a horizontal position and ho the brim above the shelf upon which the hanger is placed, thereby reventing the weight of the hat resting on t e brim and altering the original shape of the hat.
A further object of the invention is a device of this kind made of one piece of Wire bent into shape and requiring no casting, sta les, or rivets.
he invention consists of a wire bent to form a circular base, an integral diametrically and upwardly inclined standard, and a second ring concentric with respect to the base and in a higher lane.
In the drawings, igure 1 is a perspective View of my device. Fig. 2 is a diametrical section through the rings, the standardbeing in elevation and a hat or bonnet being indicated in dotted lines.
This device is made of one piece of Wire and comprises a ring A, which forms the base of the ban er. The wire is then bent ulpwardly an carried diametrically over t e ring A, thus forming a standard B, and the wire is then bent into a ring C, concentric With the base-ring A and elevated above it. The free ends of the wire are secured by twisting around the standard B, one free end being bent around the standard at its lower ends, as shown at D, and the opposite free end being bent around the standard at its upper end, as shown at D.
The ring C fits in the crown of the hat or bonnet and elevates the brim above the shelf on which the base A rests.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A device of the kind described comprisin a base formed of a wire ring, a Wire standar integral with the base-ring said standard projecting upwardly above t e base-ring and diametrically to a point in a vertical plane adjacent the opposite side of the base to which the lower end of the standard is connected, and a supportin -ring carried by the upper end of the standard and concentric with respect to the base rin CORNELLA B. HOTCHKISS.
