TO ALL WHOM IT MAY- CONCERN:
Be it known that I, P. D. F. GOEWEL of Albany, in the county of Albany, and State of-New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Slide-Latches, by which the bolt may be' locked, so as to keep itin place; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, so as `to enable any one skilled in the art to manufacture and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in Which--l Figure 1 is a. perspective View.`

By reference to the drawings, it will-be seen that the latch consists of a frame, A, a bolt, B, a knob, C, and locking-tumbler, D. The shape of the aperture for the locking=tumbler D is shown at E in iig. G.
The manner of operating my invention is as follows: By turning the knob Cto the left, the locking-tumbler D is brought into the position shown in fig. 7, and the bolt locked. By turning the knob C to the right, the locking-tumbler D is turned to the position shown in fig. 9, and the bolt unlocked. Then, by pressing the knob C down, the bolt B is Aslid out of the Way.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The latch, composed of the plate A, the locking-tumbler' D, in combination with and operated by the doubly-moving knob C, all constructed substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposes specified.
