Description
No. 819,112 PATENTED MAY 1, 1906 R. WYLIE. DISH CLEANING APPARATUS.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 53, 1905.

Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 1, 1906.
Application filed September 6. 1905. Serial No. 277,041.
. zen of the United States, residing at Napa, in
the county of Napa and State of California,
have invented certain new and useful lm-i provements in Dish-Cleansing Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in apparatus for cleansing dishes, spoons, and other articles; and the object of the invention is to produce a simple and efficient device comprising a rack having a series of registering apertures in the opposite rails for the reception of rods having angled ends, which ends are designed to be seated in longitudinal grooves in the rack.
The invention consists in various details of construction and in combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved dish-cleansing apparatus. Fig. 2 is a sectional view through the rack, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the rods adapted to be held in perforations in the rack.
Reference now being had 'to the details of the drawings b letter, A designates a rack,
the opposite si e rails of which are rovided with series of perforations B, and t e outer faces of. the rails having the perforations therein are grooved, as at D.
E E designate series of rods having angled ends E. Said rods are designed to be passed through registering apertures in the opposite side rails of the rack and the angled ends E to be seated in said grooves D.
F designates a screen-bottom of the apparatus, which is attached to the under sidr r' the lower rails of the rack.
By the provision of an a paratus constructed as shown and described it will be noted that the bars may be placed in any of the various registering apertures to form spaces of different widths, adapting the apparatus to hold plates of different thicknesses, spoons, knives, &c.
When the articles to be cleansed are so placed and the rack thus containing them has been set in a kitchen-sink or where the water applied can readily be drained off, hot water under pressure is applied to the dishes through a hose attached to a hot-water faucet and provided with a spraying-nozzle until all are thoroughly cleansed. By being allowed to stand in the rack for a few minutes the dishes will be found to have dried themselves through the heat and the perfect drainage secured by their osition in the rack.
Having thus fully escribed my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A dish-cleansing apparatus comprising a rack, havin parallel side rails which are perforated an slots formed in said rails, said rack being provided with a screen bottom, rods adapted to ass through re isterin apertures in said ralls and designed to hold different-sized dishes, each of said rods having an angled end adapted to rest in one of said slots, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my, signature in the presence of two witnesses.
RICHARD WYLIE.
