Application filed June 15,1904. Serial No. 212,697. v
- a bedstead for the purposeof supporting the foot while lacing the shoe.
The device is. particularly ada ted for use in connection with metal bedstea s, although it can be used c ually as Well upon Wooden bedsteads, and, roadly considered, it consists of a bracket having a tubular portion in which is arranged the upright arm of the rest, the upper end of said arm being provided with a finger adapted to engage one of a series of notches formed at the upper end of the tubular portion for the purpose of holding the foot-rest proper in any desired adjustment. V w
The invention consists also in certain details of construction hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
in the drawings forming part'of this specilication, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the practical application of in invention. F 1g. 2 1s a sectional elevation, t e foot-rest proper being turned beneath the bed. Fig. I
3 a top plan view of the bracket-casting. Fig. 4 is a detail 7 erspective vieW- of the bracket-casting. Fig. 5 is a detail perspeih tive view of a portion of the foot-rest proper.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates a bracket-casting which is adapted to fit upon the side rail of a metal bed and is provided with a vertical tubular ortion B, the upper end of which is provi ed with a series of radial notches B. The foot-rest proper is preferably made of stout rod-iron, preferably the bore of the from a single piece and coiled in convolute form, as shown at C, to provide a flat circular portion. The rod is then extended horizontally, as shown at D, to-provide a horizontal arm, and then bent upwardl providing an upright arm which extendst ou h tubular portion B, and at t e upper end this upri ht arm E .carrles a horizontal finger F, WhlCh is adapted to en age one of the series ofradial notches and he d the foot-rest G at any. desired point of adjustment.
By means of a device constructed ashere in shown and described a convenient support or rest for the foot can be had wlnle lacing the shoe, the erson sitting upon the edge of the bed w e doing so.
By having a plurality ofnotches at the top of the tubular portion the rest can be held at any desired point of adjustment, and, furthermore, when the rest is turned com pletely under the bed the finger wlll also engage oneof the notches and hold said rest in that position.
Havingthus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is v A device of the kind described comprlsmg a bracket-castin having a vertical tubular portion provide with radial notches at its upper end, and a vertical armarrangedto rotate in the tubular portion, said arm be ng provided with an integral hor zontal fin er at its upper end to engage the radial notc es and an integral horizontal arm extending from its lower end, the outer end of said horizontal armbe'm coiled in convoluted form providing a circ ar rest portion.
