Specification of Letters Patent..
Patented March 27, i906.
Application liled September 18, 1905. Serial No. 278.895.
To aM whom, t mwyeoncern.'
` Be it known that I, HOMER A. BURT, a citicounty of Wayne, State of Michigan, have in-v vented `a certain new and useful Im rove. ment in Brush-Soap, of which the fol owing is a specification, reference being had to the of this specification.
My invention has for its object to provide` brush-soap-'that is, a cake of- `soapfhaving brush fiber embedded therein.` 3i
I carry out my invention as ,herein f. de-f scribed and claimed, and illustrated-in-.the'accompanying drawings, in which-f-I -r Figure 1 is a view in erspective ofaf'cake of soap having brush ii er combined there-` with. Fig.` 2 is a view in longitudinal sec- Fig.'3 is a view in'cross-section. Fig. 4 is' a view of a plate and 'brush fiber contained therein in perspective.
My invention is desi ned to provide acake. of soap havingl brush fi er rojecting through the lateral faces ofthe ca e of soap to more effectively serve the purpose of cleansing.
It is awell-known fact that incertain lines of labor-as in the trade-cfa machinist, forexam le-'-the hands become soiled with grease clean them Awith soap inthe usual way. My
brush and a cakevof soap, the brush fiber be-4 ing placed therein, `referably by an interme- Whichthe tufts of the fiber extend', thel eryprojecting through theA soap.
As illustrated the drawin s, a cake of my improved brush-,soap is in icated at a. The soa com ound is indicated at c. The tufts of rush ber are indicated at b. These tufts, as shown, are secured in and held in place by an intermediate plate d of any suitable construction, as of Wood, metal, or any other suitable material. -This plate is normally located intermediate thelateral surfaces Qf the cake, the ends of the tufts of brush p the cake.
fiber projecting through the opposite surfaces of the cake. v
In the formation of cakes ofmy improved brush-soap the central plate with the tufts of brushfiber engaged therein is located in the mold.l The soap is then run or forced into the s aces between the tufts oneach side of the p ate, by `which operation the plate with its brush fiber is embedded in the cake.
It will. readily be seen that in use the operatorsecures the combined eHect of a brush Y and soap in oneand the same article, whereby the operation of cleaning may be expedi-4 tiously and effectively secured. y
. It will be evident that the device is adapted for -a wide-variety of uses not only for cleaningthe hands, but it may be used also in the laundry. It ma for example, be utilized for cleansing so' ed collars and other articles instead of rubbing upon the Washboard.
'The structure is simple and of superior efficiency.. What I claim as m invention is-,
1. As an article 'o manufacture a cake of soap havingin combination therewith a plate located intermediate the sides of the cake, and brush fiber passed through and held in place by said plate, said fiber extending laterally in op osite directions from said plate to the exterior surfaces of opposite sides of 2. In combination a plate provided with 'tufts of brush fiber extending therethrough,
.and thespaces between the tufts of brush fiber on` opposite sides of the plate filled with hard soap, forming a combined brush-soap,- the soap completely embedding the plate therewithin.
In testimony whereof `I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
