UNITED STATES Patented March 21, 1905.
PATENT OFFICE.
BRUSH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 785,273, dated March 21, 1905.
Application filed June 6, 1904. Serial No. 211,402. a
To all 11/71/0111 it may concern: Q
Be it known that I, PAUL ALFRED Simon- INGER, a subject of the German Emperor, and a resident of Plauen, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Brushes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to brushes the construction of which is improved in such a manner that the bristles can be turned out of the vertical position to lie flat against the brush-stock, so as to decrease the size of the brush for packing purposes.
In the accompanying drawings the improved brush is shown in Figure 1 in a front view, partly in section. Fig. 2 is a cross-section through Fig. 1 on line A B. Fig. 3 shows the improved brush with the bristles laid flat, partly in section; and Fig. 4 is a cross-section through Fig. 3 on line C D.
The brush consists of a frame 3, in which, by means of axles 2, the bristle-holders 1 are rotatably mounted. The bristle-holders 1 are secured in their vertical position, as shown in Fig. 1, by means of angular racks 4, the teeth 5 of which roject into the intervals between the brist e-holders 1, thus preventing an unintentional movement of the To turn the bristle-holders into a flat position, the racks 4 are turned outside, so that the teeth 5 go out of the intervals between the bristle-holders.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'
An improved brush comprising. in combination a frame, bristle-holders rotatably mounted in said frame at uniform distances from each other, an angular rack at each side of the frame pivoted with one edge to the same and teeth at the other edge of the angular rack adapted to project into the intervals between the bristle-holders, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PAUL ALFRED SAROHIN GER. Witnesses:
