The object of m invention is to provide a sheet-metal humi or of a simple, strong, and durable construction suitable for darn ening and keeping damp tobacco, cigars, an other articles, which may be conveniently opened and closed, and in which the water-receptacle may be conveniently cleansed out with hot water from time to time, as required, without wetting or soilin the interior of the humidor or re uiring the oxes of cigars or other articles t erein to be removed and which will at the same time present a neat and attractive ap earance.

y invention consists in the novel construction of parts and devices and in the novel combinations of parts and devices herein shown and described and by which I accomplish this object or result.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this s ecification, Figure 1 is the front view of a s eetametal humidor embodying my invention. The bottom plate A is also furnished with a longitudinal strengthening-rib a? near its front ed e, which also serves as a stop or shoulder or the door D to shut against. This rib afi may preferably be in a separate piece from the bottom plate, of U shape in cross-section and secured to the bottom plate b r soldering. The top late C is secured to t 1e upright sides B B y soldered seams c and to the upper end of the back plate E b a seam c. At its front edge the top plate (x is furnished with a fold c to strengthen the same and give it a smooth finish and with a strengthening-ribc for the upper end of the double-walled door to shut against.

The double hollow upright sides B B ol the humidor are each composed of an inner sheetmetal plate I) and an outer one I) and are to vided with rabbets or an le-shoulders b 3 at their front ed es, iormed by flanges on one or both of the ates b b. The inner plate I) of the double liollow sheet-metal sides B also have flanges b b at their u per and lower ends, which are soldered to tile top and bot tom plates A C. The inner plates 3) of each of the double hollow upright sides B are furnished with perforations 12, extending from the bottom to the top thereof.

The double hollow combined door and water-rece tacle D comprises an inner sheetmetal p ate d and an outer one d, and at its top and upright edges the door is furnished with rabbets or shoulders (1 (1 formed by flanges d d on the inner plate d of the door. The inner and outer plates (1 and d of the door, at the lower end thereof, have interengaging right-angle flanges d (1 The inner sheet-metal plate d of the door is provided with a series of perforations d at its upper half or portion, through which moisture or vapor from the water contained in the lower portion of the hollow door may enter the interior of the humidor, and thus dampen the cigars or other articles contained therein. The inner plate d of the hollow door D is also provided at its lower end with a screwlug (1, closing the washout-opening in the 001'.

The double hollow door D is also provided just above the water-receptacle portion thereof with a latch (1, having a rotary shank d and a knob or handle d on the outside of the door. The door D is mounted upon one of the double hollow upright sides B of the humidor by hinged strips d (Z The feet F of the humidor are preferably sheet-metal cylindrical ca s or cups having flanges f, which are secure y soldered to the bottom plate A on the under side thereof. The feet F being of large diameter serve to materially strengthen and stiffen the sheetmetal bottom plate A of the humidor.

The erforations in the inner plates 1) of the dou le sides B, extending from the top to the bottom thereof, enables the moisture entering the humidor from the water-receptacle in the door to circulate to all parts of the humidor. The double hollow upright sides of the humidor serve also to materially strengthen the humidor and afford proper sup ort to the double hollow water-receptacle langed door. As in my improved humidor, the water-receptacle is in the hingedoor itself. When the door is sWun open, water can be from time to time poure into it without any danger of spilling the Water upon the interior of the humidor or the cigars or other articles therein, and the Water-receptacle of the humidor can also be conveniently cleaned out from time to time with hot Water, as required, by simply removing the screw-plug at the bottom of the water-receptacle in the door without danger of either 3 5 wetting or soiling the interior of the humidor or its contents.

I claim 1. In a sheet-metal humidor, the combination with double, hollow, upright sides pro- 0 vided with perforations in the inner walls thereof, and furnished with rabbets or angleshoulders on the front upright edges thereof, of a double, hollow, hin ed door and water receptacle furnished wit perforations in its 45 inner wall above the water-receptacle portion thereof, and provided with rabbets or angle-shoulders on its upright edges, substantially as specified.

In a sheet-metal humidor, the combina- 50 tion with the upright side plates, of a doublewalled, hollow, hinged door for containing water in its lower portion, and provided with perforations through the inner wall of the door at the upper portion thereof to en- 5 able the vapor or moisture to pass into the humidor from the water in the hinged door, substantially as specified.
