' natascia Y 'n roo'riinosn. nonnina'' l i, -V i. AllenfI-I.Aindurgdhioago; l Applieation. 'october 24, leaaseriatnel. 695,471.14. l fsfolaims;k (o1. 132-84.)
This invention `relates toftooth: Lbrush holders, and its` general object is to provide a holder that is capable of supporting one or more toothbrushes ina manner whereby they are-protectedl against dir-t, dust, and foreign matter, and; While ready accesslmay be had thereto in Vremoving or replacing theI same, they are retained in' a-clean and sanitary condition.
A further objectV of the invention is to provide a tooth brush holder that Anot only protects and supports one or more tooth brushes inrowfor.- mationtc facilitate aiselection in removal for use, but means' are fprovided iorrendering the brushes antisepticp Y Afm-ther object ofilhe invention isftoprovide a tooth brush holder in the form oi a cabinet having ventilatingrmeans to. produce circulation of -airl throughthejcabinet for the;purposexof expediting; drying of,l the. brushes. I
Another object `of the inventionis tofprovide a-toothbrush;holderthat is capable of supporting a container of tooth cleansing material, such-y as a tube of tooth pasteiandithelike, inpa.y ,conveniisnt manner .for use.H
A still further object of the invention is to provide a tooth brush holder in the form of a cabinet that is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and extremely efficient in use and service.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing'and specically po-inted out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the holder which forms the subject matter of the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a sectional View taken approximately on line 2-2 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows;
Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken approximately on line 3 3 of Fig. 2, looking in the direction of the arrows;
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken approximately on line 4 4 in Fig. 3, looking in the direction of the arrows; and
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a modified form of my holder. y
Referring to the drawing in detail, and particularly to Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive, it will be noted'athatmyholderfwhich isfintheiformofa y cabinet -includesiend Walls.: 1i, attop Wall 2; a rear Walliira bottom* wall-4;landiarfrontlwall 5', the latter.extendingl downwardly: from. the .topwall for a: portionf ofithe frontofflthe` cabinet'v andih'avingfanfelongated opening; therein: which takes up theamajor'portion of .the ifront wall; as clearly shown in Fig.'.1.:..Th'e openingsislolosed byaY sliding door `6s that.' extends; through.v a. slot' in .one endt Wall and iszreoeived andi guided grooves '7,' ras.fshovmgin Fig; 2L Disposed adjacent the inner--en'dhofthe'slidingv door 6` is at recesspro- The bottom Wall 4, as shown, is disposed slightly above the lower edges of the rear and endV walls and at regular intervals in its length are arranged keyhole-shaped slots l2`having their narrow portions extending'irom the front edge thereof for the purpose of receiving tooth brushes, and guiding them to the rounded portions which are beveled vto provide a'seat for the bristles of the brushes, as indicated in dotted lines in Figs. 2V and 4, with the result the bristles will Abe wholly conned within the cabinet while the handles depend therefrom so that `a quick selection can be made prior to opening the door 3, which when in open position any one or all of the brushes can be readily removed and replaced.
Disposed in the cabinet in the form as shown in Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive, is a partition 13 having an opening extending for theA majorl portion of its length and width that is covered bya strip 14 of screen wire or the like, to provide in the cabinet a chamber to receive antiseptic material, not
inclusive, and the top wall, which for distinction is indicated by the reference numeral 15, like the top wall 2 is curved in concaved formation to provide a pocket to receive a container of tooth cleansing material such as a tube of tooth paste, as shown in dotted lines in Figs. 1 and 2.
The end walls in both forms of the invention as shown are each provided with Ventilating means in the form of slots having hoods 1'? disposed in the front thereof, Ato retard-the passage of dust and the like into the cabinetbutallows for the free passage of air therein with the result the air will circulate throughout the interior of the cabi-` net and expedite drying of the brushes.
While I have shown the cabinet as having itsy walls and partition integral, I want it understood that they can be secured together in any manner, and the` cabinet can be made from any material and ofcourse in various colors andshades thereof.
From the above description, and disclosure of the drawing it will beobvious thatI have provided a tooth brush'holder in the form of a cabinet that not only protects and retains tooth brushes ina clean and sanitary condition, but the brushesas well as the cabinet are rendered free from bacteria due to theantiseptic chamber in the form as shown in Figs. 1 to 4,.inclusive, and in both forms the brushes may be easily and expeditiously removed and replaced due to the slotted bottom walls, and the swinging hinged doors. n Y
It is though from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I` desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the, combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A toothbrush cabinet comprising a body having a solid ilat vertical back, sides therefor, each side having at least one Ventilating louvre in the bottom portion thereof only, a concave top co-operating with the sides to form a smooth concave surface having its longest dimension parallel to the back, said sides and top meeting within the concave surface, a perforatedshelf extending between the upper solid portions of the two sides, a door accessible from the outside closing the front of the compartment formed between said top and shelf, an additional shelf adjacent the bottom of said cabinet and being provided .with a Both forms of the invention have arranged in plurality of slots therein for receiving tooth brushes, and a door horizontally hinged at the ltop of said lower tooth brush compartment and adapted to close said lower compartment and maintain said brushes in position.
2.' The structure of claim 1 wherein said upper door is adapted to slide horizontally.
`3. A tooth brush cabinet, comprising a body having a solid flat vertical back, sides therefor extending the full width of the back, each side having at leastk oney Ventilating louvre in the bottom portion thereof only, a concave top co-operating with the sides and back to form a smooth concave surface having its longest dimension parallel to the back, a rim extending down from the top and extending from the edges of the top portions of the two sides, a perforated shelf beneath the top and extending across from the sides to form a top compartment in said cabinet, access to which is obtained by said front rim, a door mounted behind said rim and slidable through a slot in one of said side portions, a bottom shelf extending across said cabinet at the lower portion thereof and being provided with a plurality of slots for receiving tooth brushes, said slots-having their open ends along the front edge of said shelf, and a door horizontally hinged on the lower portion of said rim, said door being large enough to close said lower compartment.
