TO LL WHO IT MAY CONGE-RN:
Be it known that I, MARCUS Bn'owN WESTHEAD, of Manchester, in the county of Lancaster, Great Britain, have invented a new and improved Methodof Putting up Tapes, Ribbons, and other Narrow Fabrics for Use; and I do hereby declare that4 theffollowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to m'ake and use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, form` ing a'fpart of this specification. i
My invention has for its object an arrangement by which a series o f coils of narrow fabric may be placed in a casket or box, from which any desired lengths may be drawn. I
Figure l represents my invention in sectional plan, and
Figure 2 in vertical section.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
At a is a casket or box, provided with a. lid, b, and having a vertical slit, c.
The tape or other 'narrow fabric, wound in coils in the usual manner, is at d, with an end, as at di", projecting through the slit c. Upon this coil d is then placed a. disk of thin card-board or paper, c, shown in red color. Uponthis, another coil, d, is placed, and so on, until the casket is full, intervening disks of paper,
e, being adapted, as shown by the red-lines.
I find that by this arrangement the protruding end of any of thevcoils, as at di, may be drawn so as to obtain any desired length of the narrow fabric without disturbing-the other coils, and it will he seen that the casket may. contain narrow fabrics of different widths. i
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letter-s Patent- As a new articleof manufacture, n, tape-holder, consisting of the slitted box a, containing'a series of loose disks, e, to separate the rolls of tape, substantially as described.
