.To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERMANN KIROHHOFER, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of Parnassus, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a -new and Improved Shade-Bracket, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The purpose of'the' invention is to provide a neat, simple; and economic form of shadebracket which "can be secured to a windowcasing at any convenient point between the longitudinal edges'of the side members of the casing whether the shade to be "hung has a longer or a shorter roller than required for the window, thus not only enabling the brackets to be used in connection with different lengths of shade-rollers, butalso enabling the'brackets to be attached to the firmest portions of a casing -to which brackets have been previously many times applied.

- Another purpose of the invention is-to so construct the improved brackets'that they may be quickly and conveniently adjusted rendering it possible for the brackets to remain as fixtures on the window-casing and effectively brought into service for the same length of roller or for a different length than elevation" of the improved bracket.

The improved fixture consists, primarily, of a clip-base a, adapted for attachment to a window-casing, a carrier at, adjustable in the clipbase, and a bracket-arm of, connected with the carrier.

The Clip-base a is preferably made of spring metal-sheet metal, for example-and may be of any desired shape. In the construction of the said clip-base the material is bent upon itself to provide-a rear section 10 and a front section'll, both of said sections having corresponding apertures 12 therein to receive nails,

screws, or equivalent forms of fastening de vices. Where the bend or f old is made in the material of the clip-base a a transverse eye or socket 13 is produced, while at the free end of the front section 11 of the said base a transverse channel is formed in the rear face of said section, producing'where the two members are brought together at their free ends a second transverse socket 14. The back face of the rear section 10 is straight or flat, so

that it will bear snugly against a casing or other support to which it is to be applied, and where the sockets 13 and 14: are formed the outer face of the front member 11 of the said clip-base is rendered more or less convexed, as is shown in Figs. 2 and 4, as the sockets above mentioned are almost entirely produced in the inner face of the said front section 11. and firmly held in their adjusted position,

is secured to the connecting member'l7 of the carrier on. Such attachment is usually eflI'ected by carrying the material of the bracketarm closely around and in looking engagement with the connecting member 17, as is shown in Figs. 2 and 3, thereby forminga sleeve 18.

A shade-bracket when constructed as above described is light, simple, durable, and economic, and by its means a shade-roller may be mounted in the bracket-arms in a convenient manner either before or after the de-- vice is attached to its support, and when attached the carriers a of the device may be adjusted as may be required to accommodate the bracket-arms a to a long or ashort roller.

15 and 16 of the carrier or. are passed into the sockets 13 and 14:, and then screws, for example, are passed through the apertures 12 in the clip-base and into the window-casing or other support, and when these screws are well driveni-nto the support the two sections of the clip-base a will be firmly held on the support and in contact with each other, thus IIO causing the carrier to be held stationary in the position to which it was adjusted. When another adjustment of the carrier is needed, it is simply necessary to loosen up the screws, whereupon the body members of the carrier may be slid backward and forward in the sockets of the clip-base.

The connecting member 17 of thecarrier a is preferably flattened where the sleeve 18 of the bracket-arm a engages with it.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In shade-brackets, a clip-base formed of two sections overlying one another and adapted to be secured together in fiat engagement, one section having at each end a socket on its inner face, a carrier comprising straight parallel members and a connecting member, said parallel members having sliding movement between the sections of the base-clip in the sockets thereof, and a bracket-arm secured to the connecting member of the carrier and projecting at right angles therefrom.

2. In shade-brackets, a clip-base constructed in two spring-sections connected at one end and free at their opposite ends, one section having a socket formed at each of its end portions, said sockets facing the opposing section, a bracket-arm, means for securing the free end of the sections together, and a carrier to which the bracket-arm is attached, the said carrier being provided with parallel members which enter the sockets in the clip-base.

3. In shade-brackets, a clip-base consisting of a spring-plate bent upon itself, forming a rear section and a front section, both of the i sections having corresponding openings therein and the front section having sockets formed in its rear face, a carrier consisting of two parallel members, which enter and are adj ustable in the said sockets of the clip-base, and a connecting member, and a bracket-arm secured to the connecting member of the carrier.

4. A shade-bracket, comprising a carrier having spaced and parallel members,a bracketarm secured to and projecting from one end ofthe carrier, and a clip-base formed of springsections connected at one end and free at the opposite ends, the free ends of the sections being adapted to be secured together, the clipbase being provided at its ends with sockets in which the members of the carrier enter and are adapted to be clamped when the free ends of the sections are secured together.

5. A shade-bracket, comprising a carrier having spaced and parallel members, a bracketarm secured to and projecting from one end of the carrier, a clip-base formed of two apertured spring-sections connected at one end and free at the opposite ends, the clip-base being provided at its ends with sockets in which the members of the carrier enter, and screws for securing the base-clip in position and the sections thereof in fiat engagement.
