To all whom, may concern:
Be it known that 1, LANE A. HALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Vernon, in the county of Knox and State of Ohio, have invented new and. useful Improvements in Clothes-Pin Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to carriers; and its primary object is to provide a novel and highly useful device of this character adapted to be movably mounted upon a clothes-line for the purpose of supporting a receptacle of clothespins, whereby the operator may move the carrier in advance while securing wearing-apparel to the line to at all times keep the clothespins within convenient reach.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated which is simple of construction, cheap to manufacture, durable, and efficient and which is adapted to be readily and quickly applied to and removed from a clothes-line.
The invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, showing the preferred form of my invention, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a carrier constructed in accordance with my invention, the same being illustrated in applied position upon a clothes-line. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view thereof, and Fig. 3 is a horizontal section through the sheave-carrying frame.
Referring to the drawings by reference-numerals, 1 designates the sheave-carryingframe, comprising parallel side bars 2 and end bars 3. Sheaves l are journaled within the frame between the side bars 2 2 by means-of pintles 5. Secured to and formed integral with the lower edges of the side bars 2 2 are depending arms 6 6, which have their lower portions directed inwardly toward each other, as at 7, and terminating in elongated arms 8 8. The arms 8 8 have their lower ends bent to provide hooks 9 9, upon which is adapted to be secured a clothes-pin receptacle. The arms 5, inwardly-directed portions 7, elongated arms 8, and hooks 9 serve to provide hookarms depending from the sheave-carrying frame. These hook-arms are spaced apart through virtue of their connection with the side bars 2 2, and the spacing of the same adapts the carrier to be easily and quickly applied to and removed from a clothes-line, as is fully illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings. Secured to and formed integral with the upper edges of the side bars 2 2 are arches 10, the purpose of which is to add rigidity and strength to the sheave-carrying frame 1.
The carrier is adapted to be applied to a clothes-line in the manner illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, and the clothes-pin receptacle is adapted to be engaged by the hooks 9 9. The carrier in its position upon the clothes-line may be successfully advanced upon the line as the operator secures wearing-apparel thereto, whereby it is apparent that the clothes-pins are always within convenient reach.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and advantages of my improved carrier will be readily apparent with out requiring any further extended explanation. It will be seen that the device is simple of construction, that said construction permits of its manufacture at small cost, and that it is exceedingly well adapted for the purpose for which it is designed.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resortedto without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new is- 1. A carrier of the character stated, comprising a sheave carrying frame having formed integral therewith depending hookarms, and sheaves journaled within said frame.
2. A carrier of the character stated, comprising a sheave carrying frame having formed integral therewith depending hookarms spaced apart, and sheaves j ournaled with said frame.
3. A carrier of the character stated, com prising a sheave carrying frame having formed integral with the lower edges thereof depending arms having their lower portions bent inwardly toward each other and terminating in elongated arms having hooked lower ends, and sheaves journaled within said frame.
L. A carrier of the character stated, comprising a sheave-carrying frame consisting of parallel side bars and end bars, said side bars having formed integral with their lower edges depending arms having their lower portions directed inwardly and terminating in elongated arms having hooked ends, the upper edges of said side bars having formed integral therewith arch members, and sheaves journaled within said frame.
