HOSE-SUPPORT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 355,924, dated January 11, 1887.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, CHARLES H. FAVEL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Oberlin, in the county of Lorain and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in hose-supports, the object being to provide a cheap, simple, and effective means for drying hose or rubber tubing, such as is used by fire-engines, the object being to provide a means whereby the hose can be hung up for drying without forming sharp bends therein; and to this end my invention consists in the employment of a suspended bracket or support which has an oval or rounded bearingsurface over which the hose is placed,said oval bearingsurface having side flanges extending therefrom, which will prevent displacement of the hose, which will be hereinafter fully set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate my invention, Figure 1 is a-perspective view of my improved hose-supporting device, and Fig. 2 is a sectional View.

upper ends thereof engaging with suitable rings, by means of which the chains may be attached to a support.

The hose to be dried after use is placed between the chains attached to the side pieces so as to rest upon the curved bottom 0, said oval bottom preventing any sharp bends therein,which are liable to injure the hose and prevent the water draining therefrom.

In practice a series of supports are used to support a line of hose.

If desirahle,the bracket may be made of a single piece, and instead of providing a solid curved bottom, 0, an open-work frame may be employed, and the side flanges which project above the bottom may be perforated.

I claim- I 1. The device hereinbefore described for supporting hose, consisting of side frames provided with semicircular or curved bottom, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.

2. A bracket or support for firemens hose, provided with a curved bottom, 0, and side pieces which project above the same, substantially as shown, andfor the purpose set forth.

3. As a new article of manufacture,a support for firemens hose, consisting of side pieces, a curved portion, 0, with which the hose contacis, and a supporting-chain, D, attached to the s'de pieces, substantially as shown.
