Description

@eine tetes hatmf @ffice JOHN 'HARTZELL ZINN, 0F HARRISBURG, ASSIGN'OR To HIMSELF `AND rr.'
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONGERN:
B. WEAKLEY, OF DAUPHIN COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA.
Leiters PatentNo. 79,288, dated June 23,1868.
' IMPROVBD LIN EHOLDER.
Be it known that I, JOHN HARTZELL ZINN, of Harrisburg, in the county of Dauphin, and in the State ofPenn Sylvania, have invented certain new and useful Iinproveinents in Line-Holders; and do h'ereby declare that the following isA a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to th'e letters of reference marked thereon. A
In the annexed drawings, forming part of this specification- Figure 1 is afront View, and
Figure 2 a side view.
The nature of my invention consists in a frame,- with a circular flange and a double lever, to hold a rope or wire, which device may be either suspended with a ring, or fastened by screws to a post, or anything else most convenient.
To enable others skilled in the art `to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
A represents a frameor plate, made of iron, brass, glass, or any other suitable material, and'of any shape desired. This frame has at its upper end a circular or arched ange, B, and at its lower end an L -shaped arm, C, to which latter a double lever, D, is pivoted. The lever D may be either arch-shaped or angled, so that one arm extends on each side of the frame A., above and beyond the corners of thel flange B. The tops of these arms, to the lever D, are grooved out, to admit the rope or wire, and may project out, so that when the rope'is laidbetween these prongs it can be drawn or stretched at any' angle, and cannot slip oil` those points.
There is another arm, a, extending perpendicularly on the-lever D, pointing towards the concave part of the flange. -This is also groovcd out,- to admit the rope, and extends a little abore'the corners ofthe flange D.
By this arrangementpit will be seen that when a rope is laid over the arms vofthe lever, and under the ange, it is securely held by the extended arm a against the corner b of the flange B, and'also by the lever to corner c ofthe `flange.
The frame A can be suspended with a ring, or screwed againsta post or.whatever is most convenient, or it may be suspended by an extension of the frame passing through a hole` and securing it by a nut or screw.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to se'eurcby Letters Patent, is-
The arrangementnf the lever D with central arm a, pivoted on the frame A and arm C, in connection with the arch-shaped flange B, all made of iron, brass, or other suitable material, for the holding of rope or wire, substantially as herein set forth and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand, this 17th day of April, 1868.
