TO. ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be itknown that I, JAMES BLEASE, of the city ofRiclnnond, and State of Indiana,.have invented aanew anduseful Improvement in Fore-Part Irons for nishjng shoes, Sto.; and I do hereby declare that the-following isa full, clear, and exact description ofthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, 'in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the tool,

Figure 3 a view with the adjustable parts removed, and
Figure 4 are the adjustable parts.
The same letters in the-different figures referto corresponding parts of the invention.
The nature of my invention consists in constructing tools for finishing the edges of the soles of shoes, 82e., in such a. manner that the tool may be adjusted to suit the various thicknesses of soles,lby means of adjustable lips; and for obtaining various styles of finish different lips'may be applied tothe same tool, thus dispensing with the numerous complete tools ordinarily required for the purpose. The same tool may also-be used as a shoulderiron when the adjustable parts are removed.
To enable others skilled in the art 'to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe -it with referen'ce to the drawings i a represents the tool, having nlug, e, formed by the recess, I. b represents theadjustable lip, which may be shouldered o1' made plain to give the desired finish., The said lips, are provided with'suitable. apertures, by
which they are secured in an adjustable manner on the lug s by means of the screw c and nut d, (as plainly shown' by the drawings) The guarclj serves to governthe movement of the tool.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim; and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
Adapting thevtool a to the different thicknesses of the soles by means of theadjustable lips, substantially as set forth.'
I also claim adapting the tool a to the different purposes herein specified by means of the detachable lips, as shown and described.
