T0 ALL PERSONS TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME:
Be it known that I,'CHABLES S. DUNBACK, a. citizen of vthe Province of New Brunswick, and now a. resident of Swampscot, of the county of Essex, and State of Massachusettsfhave invented a. new and useful Improvement in` Chair orv Cradleockers; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification, and represented in the accompanying drawing, which is a side view of a chair-rocker having my invention applied to it,
The nature of the invention consists in 'the combination of such rocker, and an elastic or vulcanized-rubber guard applied and fixed to its bottom and end, such guai-d beiugrto prevent the end of tbe rocker from indent-4 ing or narrowing a. mop-board or other bodyr against which it may be pressed while the chair may be in use.V
In the drawings, A denotes the rocker, and B the elastic guard,'which extends around the end and avshort distance along the 4bottom of the rocker, in manner as represented, the rocker being recessed to receive the guard. The elastic guard may be made of vulcanized caoutchouc, or it may be of leather or other proper softl orV elaswtic equivalent. o It is to be glued or cemented or otherwise fastened to the rocker.V
I am aware that a strip of India rubber has been applied to the lower surface of a. rocker, the same being as shown in A. Strawbridges Patent, No. 45,302. This I by no means cla-im. My invention is for another purpose, viz, to prevent the end of the rocker from marring a. mop-board, wall, or other body whilet-he rocker may be in use.
I therefore claim the'arrangement of the guard or cushion B against or about the end of the rocker, in manner and for the purpose specified, meaning also to claim as an improved manufacture, a rocker as made with an elast-ic cushion applied to its rear end, as set forth. cHAs. s. DUNBACK.
