PATENT OFFICE.
LADYS WORK-TABLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 771,562, dated October 4, 1904. Application filed Ianuary 16, 1902. Renewed June 9, 1904. Serial No- 21l,734. (No model.)
T0 at whom, it may concern..-
Be it known that I, JULIA E. MooRMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ladies Work-Tables; and I do declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art tovwhich it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The invention consists in the construction and arrangement of the various parts of a ladys sewing-table, as hereinafter shown and described.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a plan View of the top of the table; Fig. 2, a side elevation, and Fig. 3 an end elevation of the drawer and one of the guide-plates. Fig. 4 is an enlarged rear view of the top board or platform of the table and the drawer-supports underneath.
In the drawings, A represents the Work-table, having legs a and three parallel platforms 6/, with spool-pins a that project upward around the edge of the upper platform, the pin and needle cushion a on one corner of top platform, and scissor-hooks (5, arranged on the outer upper part of legs. The top platform is also concaved, so that a thimhle or other article will always roll toward the center instead of rolling off the table, while the arrangement of the platforms, spool-pins, and cushions, together with the hooks, allows a lady to keep all her sewing paraphernalia conveniently in place, so that she can at once put her hand upon it.
B represents one or more drawers bisected by a partition 6, adapted to slide under the upper platform and provided with an ornamental front 6, which may be made detachable. This drawer is formed of metal bent in the arc of a circle and havingits ends 6 turned over at right angles, so as to slide between the upper platform and the plate-guides Z2 6 The drawer B has on its rear upper edge the wire 6 whose ends extend out from the drawer, so as to slide against the under sides of the plates If. The latter have a turnover 6 which cooperateswith the wire ends to limit the outward movement of the drawer. The ends of the plates 6 may extend back under the table, so that the drawer may be run back to the middle thereof when-it is used on an ordinary folding-leg sewing-table without interfering with the folding of said table.
C represents a clipping-receptacle, while the middle and bottom platforms will receive small boxes or work of any kind.
hat I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
In a ladys work-table, the sliding metallic drawer with ends 6* turned out at right angles, and the Wire 6 with ends extended, in combination with the plates 6 6 made fast to the under side of platform, and having turnedover ends which limit the outward movement of the drawer; whereby the outwardly-turned portions 5 o slide between the platform and theplates 6 6 while the ends of the wire 6 run on the under side of the plates in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JULIA E. MOORMAN.
