Description

No. 768,680. v PATENTED AUG. 30, 1904. G. W. NORWOOD. SUPPORTING FOOT 0R BEST FOR POTS 0R KETTLBS. I
APPLICATION FILED FEB. 15, 1904 N0 MODEL.
UNrTEn STATES Patented August 30, 1904.
ATENT GEORGE WV. NORWOOD, OF SHORE, TENNESSEE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 768,680, dated August 30, 1904.
Application filed February 15, 1904. Serial N0.'193,567| (No model.)
1'0 (0M w/wm it may concern.-
Be it known thatI, GEORGE W. NORWOOD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shore, in the county of Giles and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supporting Feet or Rests for Pots or Kettles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention retates to a supporting foot or rest for pots and kettles, and has for its object the provision of a simple device of this character possessing structural characteristics whereby the kettle-foot will always be supported at the center of the device and the weight of the kettle equally distributed throughout the same and means preventing slipping of the device over the surface upon which the same is placed.
With the foregoing object in view a convenient embodiment of the invention comprises the novel details of construction to be hereinafter more particularly described, and set forth in the hereto-appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, Figure l is a perspective view of the device; Fig. 2, avertical section thereof; Fig. 3, a top plan view, and Fig.4 a bottom plan view.
Referringmore specifically to the drawings, wherein like reference characters refer to corresponding parts in the several views, A designates the body of the foot or rest, which is frusto-conical in formation, the upper portion of which has a slightly-depressed portion or seat a at a point near its imaginary apex, (indicated by dotted lines 6,) whereby the leg of the pot or kettle will be supported immediately above the longitudinal axis of the device and constantly maintained centrally thereof to insure an equal distribution of the weightof the kettle through the device and upon the relatively broad base B, which insures against the tilting of the device. To further perfect the device by overcoming any tendency to slip upon the surface upon which it is placed, the bottom thereof is hollowed out, as at C, to provide the sharp circular bearing edge D.
Relative to the use of the device above defined it may be stated that the same is designed, primarily, for supporting a pot or kettle over a fire.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
A rigid supporting foot or rest for pots and kettles comprising a single-piece solid body of frusto-conical form providedwith a seat at its upper end arranged at a point near its imaginary apex, and a broad base, the bottom of the device being hollowed out and the inner wall surrounding said hollow portion diverging downwardly and outwardly meeting the exterior surface of the device at the lower part of the base, forming a sharp bearing edge.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. NORVVOOD.
