SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 766,367, ated August 2, 1904.
Application filed January 27, 1904. Serial No. 190,816. (No model.)
To roll whrmt it ntay concern:
Be it known that I, OLIVE L. MAYns, residing at Evanston, Uinta county, Vyoming, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oheek-Plumpers; and ldo hereby declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description of the invention. such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertaius to make and use the same.
This invention relates to toilet articles for personal wear; and it consists of a packer or plumper for filling out the hollow of each cheek of the human face, thereby improving the personal appearance of the wearer.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of the cheek-plumper. Fig. 2 is a plan view. Fig. 3 is a cross-section taken on the line :1; 42 in Fig. 1.
A is a plate of any convenient hard material, such as vulcanite or celluloid. The plate is of any convenient form to lit inside the cheek. Two similar plates are used and are made right and left to fit the two cheeks. These plates are thicker at the rear end 1) than at the front end 0, and they are also broader at their rear parts, so that the plates are somewhat pear-shaped, and their ends are rounded. These plates are also thicker at the middle than at the edges, and their outside surfaces are convex. The inside surfaces of the plates may be of any convenient outline which will [it against the teeth or gums of the wearer, and the plates may be curved in the direction of their length, if desired, so as to follow the curve of the jaw.
B represents hooks or other equivalent fastening or retaining devices, which project from the inner side (Z of each plate and which engage with the teeth or gums of the wearer, so that the plate is retained in a suitable position in the mouth. The broader ends of the plates are placed against the wisdom-teeth, and the front ends 0 project forwardly in the mouth.
The fastening-hooks B are preferably made of some metal which will not oxidize in the mouth, and they are inserted in holes 0 in the plates and are secured in the said holes in any convenient manner. The hooks may be permanentlysecured in the holes or they may be fitted tightly in them, so that they can be withdrawn by using a little force, and a series of holes may be provided for them in different positions, so that the positions of the hooks may be changed and varied to enable them to hold the plumper-plate in position with the most comfort to the wearer and so as to produce the best effect in roundingout the cheek.
\Vhat I claim is 1. A plumper plate provided with two downwardly-bent retaining-hooks arranged side by side at different points of the length of the plate.
2. A plumper-plate provided with a series of holes, in combination with removable rctaining devices engaging with the said holes so that the position of the pli1m1)erplate in the mouth may be adjusted.
In testimony whereof .l aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
