IMPROVED, GRIMPING-MACHINR @La dgthizle naast tata tigen glatten aaat wat mattia] gaat at tige same. l
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: A.
Bc it known that I, RICHARD A. YORK, of Reading, Hillsdale county, State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Machine for Crimping Boots, and knownas an Extension Crirnping-Machine3 and I'do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to theannexed drawing, making a part of this specification, in which- I AFigure I is a longitudinal extension. V i
Figure 2 are the rubbers with V'spring, Y
Figure 3 is form, with extension-blocks, draw-blocks, .fastening-plates, gripes, thumb-screw,-screw-lever, springs for holding extension-plates to form, and-stock.

'Ilo enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, Iwill proceed to describe its construction and operation.
I construct my extension crimping-machine Aby a framework of wood, in such a manner as to have two rollers, as 1 2, a lower andan upper. One, the lower roller, I, contains` a lever, 3, with cross-bar 4. The upper roller, 2, also contains a lever, 5, with mortise, 6, which contains two metallic rubbers or crimpers, a a, consisting of shafts and enlarged end, which is placed in lever, large end downward, and vthey are attached to each other by knuckle-joint B where they pass through lever 5; and also at top of shaft is a rounded knuckle,
C, which receives the end of a V-spring, D, vand which springis used to extend upper end of shafts. The lower ends are'enlarged, as represented at E, bytwo lateral shafts passing out ina circular manner, making an angle, passing back to main shaft, and uniting at lower end .in such a manner as to form a rounded end, and the enlarged surfaces are, concaved out on their inner side in vsuch a manner as to t form in crimping.
Form F cgnsists of the common form, cut'down on the back Aand foot of form, and two extension-blocks',
G-G, fastened to form at top and toe vat X, forming `a fulcrunu at each end respectively, and each block reaching to or near the angle in form, and ou each side extensionblocks, G G, are iron fastening-plates, H HH which are used to fasten leather on extensin-blocks lby means of movable gripes, I I I, which are secured to blocks by straps of iron, which are tightened by thumb-screw J J J. 'At the inner ends of extension-blocks G G are two grooves, KK. Between the extension-blocks G G is a drawlblook, L, with two flanges, N N, which work in grooves K K, and, by means-of screw O, worked with lever P, extends draw-block, and flanges extend extension-blocks G G, V-jaw passing over drawblock O, to fasten leather at corners R R, two straps passing over form F, through lstock and around cross-.bar 4, used to hold leather on form, and to ho'ldfform in stock T; U, opening for jaw V; Y Y YY, opening for straps B. R; springs S S, to hold extension-blocks in place, all constructed as above described, and as shown in thc'accompanying drawing, andwork by standing left side to machine. v d I Leather 4being wet, straps R R being thrown over top offront post, place leather' on form F, place straps over form, put left foot on llever 3, bring down leatherto form, take hold of sha-ft below knuckle C with left hand, hold lever 'near end with right hand. Now, bring downnlever, guiding rubbers with left, to divide at the angle of form, passing down each side, work up and down until you ycan secure leather at point on draw; block L, pass jaw V over leather, tighten byturning screw O, gripes I I I being turned down, so as to allow fastening-plates H H H H to lie down flatwise, place edges of leather along extension-plates G G, turn u'p plates,
` also gripes I I-I, and tighten with thumbscrew J J J. Now-turn screw O, alternately working lever 5 with rubbers until work is completed.
What I claim as my invention, .is-
1. The combination of the form F, spring-hinged extension-blocks G G1, having grooves K, hinged extensionplates Ha.djustable gripes I, adjustable draw-block L, having iinnges N N and jaw V, substuntially as and for the purpose specified.
2. The rubbers A, constructed as described, in combination with the spring D, Substantially as und for the purpose specified.
3. The rubbers A, in combination with the slotted arm 5, roller 2, and form T, as herein described, for the purpose specified. p i
4. The combination of the rubbers A, form F, slotted and grooved V-shaped stock F, straps R, rollers, and
trendle, substnntially as described, for the purpose specified.
5. Thel device for crimping'lentlier, constructed and combined to operate substantially in the manner and for the purpose described.
