CHECK-BOOK HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 762,393', dated June 14, 1904.
Application filed November 21, 1903. Serial No. 182,076. (No model.)
To (L7/Z wil/0m it m//Ly concern:
Beit known that-I, J AMES G;D1oKsoN, a citizen of the United States ofAmerica, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Check-Book Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to check-book holders for the use of bank depositors, and has for its object to provide a simple and convenient holder for a number of checks and in which means is afforded for keeping an accurate and convenient account of the "money cheeked out by the depositor, all as will hereinafter more fully appear and be more particularly pointed out in the claim. I attain such object bythe eonstruction'and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a plan view of a holder in an open condition. Fig. 2 is an enlarged section at line rc, Fig. 1.
Similar numerals of reference indicate like parts in both views.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents the back portion or member of the present checkbook holder, provided at one end with an openended holding-pocket 2, of a su bstantially rectangular form and which is adapted toelastically grip and hold one end of a block 3 of bank-checks. In the present improvement such resilient pocket is formed by an angular flange or bend 1 of the back member 1, an overhanging lap or bend 1" at the upper end of the flange 1 aforesaid, and a longitudinallyextending fold or rib l at the free end of the lap or bend 1" aforesaid. With such construction the overhanging resilient lap or bend l" bears, by means of its rib 1', upon the stub end of the block?) of cheeks to securely clamp the same in place upon the back member 1 of the holder by the resiliency of the material comprising the bandsl and l aforesaid.
4 is a cover portion for the holder, hinged in any usual manner to the end of the top lap of the pocket 2. Such cover portion is in the present improvement provided with marginal flanges 5, which form on the under side of said cover portion a holding-pocket for a series of loose sheets 6, which are properly ruled for keeping in a convenient manner a record of the date, amount, and to whom the cheeks were issued. Y
With the present improvement as a block of checks 3 are used up the same can be readily replaced by a fresh supply, and in like manner when the loose record-sheets are fully entered with the nature of the checks drawn they can be filed away and fresh sheets substituted in their place.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A check-book holder, comprising a back member provided with an open-ended pocket of resilient material, such pocket consisting of an angularly-arranged flange on the back member, an overhanging lap on said ange, and a longitudinal rib on the inner face and free end of said lap, the said flange, lap and rib having an integral formation and the lap and flange affording elasticity to the pocket, and a cover member connected to the free end of the lap aforesaid and adapted to carry a series of record-sheets, as and for the purpose set forth.
Signed at'Chicago, Illinois, this 19th day of November, 1903.
JAMES G. DICKSON.
