IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-$HADES.

Be it known that I, JAMES EMERY, of Bucks'port, in the county of Hancock, and State of Maine, have made a. new and useful Improvement in Lamp-Shades; and I do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawings, of which- I Figure 1 is a pcrspectiveview of,a lamp-shade made in accordance with my invention.

Figure 3 is a side view of its screen-slide.
The screen A of this shade may be made like the pocketed leaf of a photographic album; that is to say with one or more pockets to receive photographs or engravings, or paintings on thin paper; and, furthermore, in its middle it is to have a pocket, f, to receive a slider, B, formed of one piece of wire, bent in a serpentine manner near one end, as shown at a. The wire at or near its other end is also bent at an acute angle, as shown at b, the part 0 extending from the bend 6 being to enter the upper helical coil of the shade-supporter C. The poekctfis formed in transverse section, as shown in Figure 4, which is a horizontal section of the screen. The serpentine part a of the slider B is inserted in the pocket, and scrvcsto keep the screen in its proper position. The screen can be slid either up or down on such part a. The supporter C is made of one piece of wire, having a helical coil at each of: its ends The lower helical coil, g, is to be of a diameter to fit upon and surround the wick-tribe of the lamp, the arrangement of the coils g and (Z, with respect to the rest of the supporter, being as represented in the drawings.
The lamp-shade so made is a very simple and eflcctivc one.
I claim the screen-supporter composed of the two wires 13 and 0, having two helix coils, serpentine bends, and a projection arranged as set forth.
I also claim the screen, as made with the iniddlepocket to receive the slider 13, made as described.
