PATENT OFFICE.
STICKY FLY-PAPER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 740,076, dated September 29, 1903.
Application filed October 21, 1902. Serial No. 128,099. (No model.)
To 00% whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD F. BAKER, a
citizen of the United States of America, residingin Passaic, county of Passaic, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sticky Fly-Paper; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to themanufacture of sticky fly-paper; and it has for its principal object to put sticky fiy-paper up in such form as to make it most convenient both for the market and the consumer.
My invention will be found fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a perspective View showing sheets of sticky fiypaper assembled in a folder or cover, this being the accomplishment of the principal object of my invention; and Fig. 2 is a View showing the manner in which in case the sheets are attached in the cover or folder the attaching is preferably effected and also how the sheets are reinforced.
The principal object of the invention is subserved by folding one or more sheets of sticky fly-paper a transversely and substantially at the middle portion thereof and inclosing said sheet or sheets within a suitable folder or cover b, preferably composed ofsome flexible material, as heavy paper. It is preferable, of course, to attach the several sheets to the cover. This I.find is perhaps best accomplished by placing an adhesive 0 between the surfaces of each sheet and the cover, as in Fig. 2. The adhesive may be also placed between the backs of the sheets-- 2'. 6., at their folds-and the corresponding portion of the cover, as at d in the same figure. If more than two sheets are used, then the intermediate sheets are simply secured by interposing the adhesive between their backs-i. G., at the folds thereof-and the corresponding portion of the cover. The bending or folding of the sheets might in some cases break the paper at the border or dam e and permitthe adhesive substance f inclosed,
between them to escape. Therefore in order to prevent this undue bending each sheet may be reinforced at the fold and in coincidence with the border or dam by a tab f, glued to it.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination of a sheet of sticky flypaper having a marginal border or dam, said sheet being folded across said border or dam, and a tab secured by adhesion to said sheet around the fold where said fold traverses the border or dam, substantially as described.
2. The combination of a sheet of sticky flypaper having a. marginal border or dam, said sheet being folded across said border or dam, a tab secured by adhesion to said sheet around the fold where said fold traverses the border or dam, and a folded cover inclosing and secured to said sheet, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 14th day of October, 1902.
