PATENT ()FFICE.
HENRY J. J. SCHANZLIN, OF BUFFALO, NEWV YORK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 735,156, dated August 4, 1903.
Application filed October 2, 1902. erial No. 125,654. (No model.)
To ctZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY .I. J. SOHANZ- LIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bufialo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Surfacing Razor-Strops; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to devices for resurfacing razor-strops;- and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side View of the device. Fig. 2 is across-section through the device, taken on the line 03a: in Fig. l.
A is a handle, which is formed of any hard material and which is preferably formed wholly of glass. Grooves or depressions b are formed in the sides of the handle A for the fingers to engage with, and o is a glass polishing-face extending along the handle.
B is a strip of lead or other equivalent soft metal secured to the handle A opposite the glass polishing-face c. This strip of lead has notched projections d on its back, which are secured in recesses 6, formed in the handle by means of any approved cementf. In this manner the lead strip is very firmly secured to the handle and cannot become loose.
Razor-strops are greatly improved by rubbing them from time to time, first with the lead strip and then with the glass polishingface of the device.
What I claim is- 1. A device for surfacing strops, comprising a handle provided with apolishing-face on one side, and having a strip of soft metal secured to its other side.
2. A device for surfacing strops, comprising a handle provided with a polishing-face and recesses, and a strip of soft metal provided with projections which are secured in the said recesses, substantially'as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY J. J. SCHANZLIN.
Witnesses:
