Description

IMPROVEMENT IN BOX POR PRESERVING GORPSES.
@the ttttule rtftrtth in in this: tttet @aient :me making putt tf the arme.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY. GONCERN:
Be it known that I, PETER WEND'HISER, of Rockville, in Vthe county of Tollund, and State of Connecticut, have invented o. new. und improved Cose or Box for Preserving Corpses; and I do hereby declare thatthe following is 'a full, clear, und exactdcscription thereof, which will enuble others skilled in th'e art to make and'use the sume, reference being had to the accompanying drowings, forming port of this specification.
lThe present invention relates to a. cose or box for the preservation of corpses, which b'oxor case is constructed in a. novel end peculiar manner, whereby it is rendered extremely ecient and desirable, as welles serviceable for the purpose intended. In the accompanying plate of drawings my improved preserving-ease 'or box for corpses is illustrated- Figure I being u central longitudinal vertical section through the same, and
Figure 2 a plu-n or top view, with the euse or box opened.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding purts.
A, in the drawings, represents the outer case or box, which for lightness and convenience oi' handling, it
is best to make of wood, suitably coated or otherwise VAprepared for rendering it air-tight. `This box A, upon its inside, is'lined with zinc, B, or other suitable metal or other material, and I deem it best, when soldering it,tfo leave a. space or' chamber between the zinc and wood, for preserving a cooler tempera-ture in the box. C, a board provided with a. leg, D, at euch corner, for supporting it above the bottom ofthe box. 0n this board the body or corpse to be preserved is placed when setting it in thc box A, in which, previously, however, ice Aor othercooling-cgent has been placed. Over such body u cover or lid, E, is then set, that is Inode of n suitable concave or circular shape therefor, and -the cover or lid G to the box Aclosed and fastened. The cover E for the body or corpse has an opening, F, in it, to allow of n. free circulation for the nir between vit und the interior of the box.
From the description above of my improved box or case for corpse, it is-plainly obvious that with the use of ice, without such ice necessarily eomingincontact with the body, such body can be preserved, the case being in everyslres'pect simple, eicient, und practicable. I
H, an outlet for the waste-water from the melting oi' the ice in the box.
fclaim as new, und desire to secure by Letters Patent- The corpse-table C, provided with the removable metallic cover E, having the opening F, when said table is supported upon legs D, und piaceri within the wooden box A, lined with the-metallic lining B, and provided with the writer-outlet pipes H, all constructed as described, for the purpose specified.
PETER WENDHISER.
