Be it known that I, CHARLES M. THEBERATH, ofNewurk, in the county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new 'and useful Improvement in Harnessl\1ountings; and I do hereby declure that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.

The present invention relates to the cheek-rein hooks of harnesses, and to other portions of such mountings & as are capped with metal tips or knobs; and the invention consists in screwing said tips or knobs upon the end of the hooks in such a manner as to embrace and hold the end of the metal lining to the hook, terminating at said knob or tip'.

In the accompanying plate of drawings, my improtement in harness nountings is illustrated, the figure being a. sidcview of a. cheek-rein ho'ok, having its end tipped or capped according to the present invention.

A, in the drawings, represents a check-rein hook, which may be of 'zuiy of the ordinary forms of such hooks. B, the metnllining to the hook, terminating at its end, G, where, in connection with the end of the hook, it screw-thread is formed around it so as to receive the knob or tip D, suitably constructed to screw on and over the same, thus securing and holding the metal lining, as plainly shown in the drawings.

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The end of the hook A- and lining B, provided with a screw-thread, upon which the top 1) is screwed to retain said lining in position against the book, as herein shown and described. I
