Description

@Minh glatte atrrft@fge G. W. FINK, OF PLEASANT, PLA INS, ILLINOIS.
` Leffe-t Patent No. 67,96?, data-z August 2o, 1867.
`. IMPROVED TRACE-FASTENER.
T0 ALL WHOM IT'MAY CONCERN: 4
Beiit known that I, W. FINK, of Pleasant Plains, in the county ot Sangamon, and State of Illinois, have invented a new and'useful Improvement in Trace-Fastenersg land I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use lthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming p'art of this specifica-tion.
This invention relates to an improved mcthod'of securing trace-tags, and consists of an arrangement of the Ing-trace and single-tree attachment, whereby a prolongation of t-ne trace or the trace-tongue presses against the neckor eccentric groove of the button of the attachment and holds theloop in which the trace-tongue is arranged firmly against the neck of the button attached to the fer-rule. In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a side view of my improved trace-tug and single-tree attachment detached.
Figure 2 is a horizontal section thereof at the line a: fr, showing the tug being placed over the button ofthe attachment.
Figure 3 is a like section Sshowing the tug in place on the neck or eccentric groove of the attachment,- and the latter turned round the trace-tongue, pressing against the neck and holding the button in place.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
A is the trace, and B the metallic frame in whichiit is set, having a loop, b, at its extremity. C is the button or cock-eye, and c the neck of the single-tree attachment. D the ferrule thereof, carrying the lip al. To fasten the trace the attachment D is turned so as to present the lip d to the trace A, as shown in fig. 2, when the loop b is passed over the button C till it catches in the eccentric groove upon the neck c. The attachment D is then turned round into the position shown in fig.`3, when the trace is held between the button and the back part of the lip of the ferrule, and pressing the* neck c of the lcock-eye or button against the loop b, holds the latter in place, lip d at the same time pressing against the4 under side of the metallic loop at B.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by LettersPatent, is-
1. The cock-eye 01 button @furnished with the eccentric groove c, substantially as described.
2. The metallic loop B constlcted to carryithe prolongation of the trace A, with the eye 6 ttcd to receive lthc button C, slibstantially ais described.
3. The 'combination of thertrace-tongue with the eccentric groove of the cock-eye, substantially as described. i i i Witnesses:
