TO ALL WHO IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM ZELLnn, of the county of LelJR-nO1l,lzL11d RICHARD LECHNER, of the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented" certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Fasteners, and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
Our invention consists of a leather strap with an opening or slot, and a button so constructed as to effectually hold the mouth of a bag.
In the annexed drawings, A represents a leather strap, which can be of any desired length, and tapers from end to end, so that its broadest portion is about oneinch (or thereabouts) in width, while the other end is tapered to a small point. Near the end of the widest portion of this strap is an oblong hole or opening for connecting the button. 0 represents the metallic button. This button is made in a conical shape, and fiat at its top, which top forms a shoulder for connecting against the underside of the strap beneath the hole. The hole or opening in this button is threaded from end to end, making the said button substantially a female screw. The button C is placed upon the end of the strap, and by screwing it forms its own thread upon the leather, thereby causing much friction and keeping the button firmly in its place. The bag mouth is put together and this invention placed around it, when the point of the strap 'is passed through the opening B with the button. The strap is then pressed close around the mouth and the nut screwed tight.
Having thus fu'ily described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The conical-threaded button (l, when used in combinat on with the tapering strap A, in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
