Be it known that I, EUGENE A. HOLSTON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Garment, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to a garment in the general nature of overalls; and the object is to construct the garment so that it may be very quickly and easily applied and when once inplace will allow the wearer perfect ease of movement and prevent crumpling the' trousers, over which the improved garment is to be worn.

To this end the invention comprises a continuous front portion adapted to lie in front of the wearer and to fully protect the clothing at this point, this front portion comprising a body part and two downward branches corresponding to the legs. The garment is held in place by portions passing over the shoulders and by flaps attached to the front portion and extending rearward around the back of the trunk and legs of the wearer, said flaps being joined together in pairs when the garment is in position.

This specification is an exact description of one example of my invention, while the claims define the actual scope thereof.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification,- in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

These flaps are adapted to extend rearward under the arms and to meet at the back of the wearer, where they are joined together by any suitable releasable fastening e, thus holding the body or trunk part a snugly against the front of the wearer. flaps are located above the knees and are arranged to extend rearward around the legs and to be fastened together by a suitable fastening g, similar to the fastening 6. At the lower extremities the legs I) have bands h, located at the rear and extending from one side to the other, these bands being permanently joined to the legs and adapted to lie just at or above the heels of the wearer.

. The garment thus constructed fully and effectively protects the front of a person and may be very readily fitted into place or removed. Owing to the fact that the rear portions of. the legs at the knees and hips are not covered, perfect freedom of movementis allowed at these points, and since the garment fits loosely in place it allows the ordinary trousers to hang properly and does not crumple or gather them in bunches, as is the case with overalls of the usual construction.

Various changes in the form, proportions, and minor details of my invention may be resorted to at will without departing from the spirit and scope thereof. Hence I consider myself entitled to all such variations as may lie within the scope of my claims.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- 1. A garment having a continuous front portion comprising a body or trunk member and downward branches arranged to lie in front of the legs of the wearer, garment portions extending over the shoulders of the wearer to support the garment therefrom,flaps attached to the sides of the trunk portion and adapted to extend around behind the wearer, means for removably connecting said flaps together, additional flaps located respectively at the sides of the leg portions and adapted to extend rearward, and means for removably connecting said additional flaps together in pairs, for the purpose specified.

2. A garment having a continuous front portion comprising a body or trunk member and downward branches arranged to lie in front of the legs of the wearer, flaps attached to the sides of the trunk portion and adapted to extend around behind the wearer, means for removably connecting said flaps together, additional flaps located respectively at the sides of the leg portions and adapted to extend rearward, means for removably connecting said additional flaps in pairs, and bands secured to the sides of the leg portions at the lower extremities thereof, each band extending continuously from one side of the leg por tions to the other and being arranged to lie at or immediately over the heels of the wearer.

A garment having a front portion or trunk member capable of lying over the front of the trunk of the wearer, and downward branches or leg members capable of lying in front of the legs of the wearer, garment portions capable of passing over the shoulders of the wearer to fasten the garment thereon, flaps ex tending rearward from the sides of the said trunk member and capable of being joined together at the rear, and additional flaps extending rearward from each leg member and capable of being joined together in pairs at the rear of the legs.

4. A garment having a front portion or trunk member capable of lying over the front of the trunk of the wearer and downward branches or leg members capable of lying in front of the legs of the wearer, garment portions capable of passing over the shoulders of the wearer to fasten the garment thereon, flaps extending rearward from the sides of the said trunk member and capable of being joined together at the rear, additional flaps extending rearward from each leg member and capable of being joined together in pairs at the rear of the legs, and bands seen red to the sides of the leg members at the lower extremities thereof, each band extending from one side of the leg member to the other and being arranged to lie at or immediately over the heels of the wearer.
