TO ZtZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, EUGEN SCHEIBER and EMIL KRVAYSSER, subjects of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Vienna, in the 5 Province of Lower Austria, in the Empire of Austria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Siphon-Bottles; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this j specification.
This invention relates to siphon-bottles, nd has for its object an improved connection tween the siphon-head and the neck of the bottle. This connection is effected by means of a-screw-threaded ring, the so-called annular screw, which is pushed upon the bottle-neck over the top flange thereof, a second interior ring being inserted inside the said annular screw for the purpose of keeping the latter in place and preventing its sliding over the bottle-neck.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a vertical sectional view through the siphonhead and a portion of a bottle. Fig. 2 is a top plan and side elevation of an annular screw hitherto employed. Fig. 3 is a vertical section and top plan view of our improved annular screw. Fig. e is a similar view of our improved retaining-ring; Figs. 5 and 6 are modifications of the same. Fig. 7 is a vertical sectional View of one half of a bottle-neck, showing the relation of the annular screw to the flange when being fixed upon the neck of the bottle. Fig. 8 is a similar view showing a modified form of annular screw-ring and having the interior ring inserted between it and the bottle-neck.
As generally known, the usual means for fixing the siphon-heads upon the necks of sian annular screw composed of two halves m m Fig. 2, the said two halves of theannular screw being arranged so as to precisely fit together beneath the flange of the bottle by means of pins 12', exactly fitting into corresponding apertures n. The siphon-head is phon-bottles consisted in the employment of screwed down upon the said annular screw m m and thus fixed to the bottle.
In Fig. 2 the annular screw is represented with the screw-thread directed downward, while when applied to the siphon it will as a matter of course be directed upward.
' According to the present invention the connection of the siphon-head with the neck of bottle is also effected by means of an annular screw; but the arrangement is simplified in such a manner that the annular screw (1, Fig. 3, is not composed of two separate parts, but is made in one undivided ring. The width of the interior open space of this ring is calculated in such a manner as to allow the annular screw to be freely pushed onto the neck of the bottle over a flange e, formed around the month.
In order to prevent the-annular screwa from being forced from the neck (2 of the bottle E, an abutment or ring I) is inserted between the annular screw a and the neck of bottle below the flange e in the manner shown in Figs. 1 and 8, the said ring forming an abutment between said annular screw and the flange. This intermediate ring or abutment 1) may either be made in the shape of a single-slit flexible ring capable of being sprung over the flange c, as shown in Fig. 4,
or it may consist of several rigid arc-shaped sections 1) b 19 as shown in Figs. 5 and (5, which when assembled form a ring.
The annular screw a is provided on its periphery with screw-threads a, which engage screw-threads 8, formed on the interior of the siphon-head S. The screw a is preferably made of sheet metal and has a flange a formed on its base by bending the metal around a stiffening-ring a In Fig. 8 we have shown an annular screw afimade of cast metal, having a solid flange of formed thereon.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is
1. The combination with a siphon-bottle having an annular shoulder below its mouth and an externally-threaded sleeve adapted to be slipped over said shoulder onto the neck of the bottle; of a flanged lock-ring fitting said neck below the shoulder and adapted to be inserted into the threaded sleeve after it one end of said sleeve and abut, against said he slipped over the shoulder onto the neck E r has been slipped over said shoulderwherebythe flange on the lock-ring will project over shoulder, for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination with a siphon-bottle having an annular shoulder below its mouth and an externally-threaded sleeve adapted to Witnesses:
