GEORGE A. WADSl/VORTI-I, OF MONTEVIDEO, MINNESOTA.
ADJ USTAB LE STAN D.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 704,603, dated July 15, 1902.
Application filed April 1,1901.
T0 (0Z6 whom it may concern.-
Beitknown thatLGEoRen ANVAnsWoR'rH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Montevideo, in the county of Chippewa and State of Minnesota, (post-office address, General Delivery,) have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Stands, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a vertically-adjustable stand designed for supporting cans, jugs, or other receptacles at any height under faucets or pumps.
To this end my invention consists in the feature of construction and combination hereinafter specifically described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of the specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved supporting-stand, and Fig. 2 is a top view of the same.
A represents the base of the stand, preferably constructed, as shown, in the form of a metal ring having an inward bend 2 in the rear side to conform with the side of the pump or barrel. Secured to the opposite side of the base-ring A is the standard B, formed on its outer edge with serrations or teeth 3.
0 represents an adjustable support for the jug or other receptacle, which consists of a ring secured in the casing 41:, inclosing the standard B. The casing and ring 0 are held in adjusted position upon the standard by means of the dog 5, having fulcrum-support 6 and engaging at its lower end 7 with the teeth 3, the lower end of the dog being held in engagement with the teeth by a spring 8,
interposed between the upper end of the dog and casing. By turning the dog out of en- Serial No. 53,885. (No model.)
gagement with the teeth the ring 0 can be carried to any desired position on the standard, and by allowing the dog to be carried into engagement with the teeth by the spring the ring will be held in such position.
My invention is especially designed for use in connection with emptying faucets or pumps of barrels. By means of the adjustable supporting-ring O a jug or receptacle of any size can be brought up as close as desired to the mouth of the faucet.
I claim 1. In a supporting-stand of the class described, thecombination with a vertical standard, of two telescoping rings, one carried by the bottom to serve as a base for said standard, and one slidable upon said standard, and means for holding said adjustable ring in adjusted position.
2., In asupporting-stand of the class de scribed, the combination of a vertical standard, a ring carried by the bottom of, and forminga base for said standard, a casing inclosin g said standard, a ring secured to said casing upon one side of said standard, serrations carried by the opposite side of said standard, a dog having fulcrum-support upon said standard, with an inwardly-turned lower end adapted to engage with said serrations, and a spring interposed between the upper end of said dog and said casing.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE A. \VADSW'ORTH.
