IMPROVEMENT IN WAGGNv-JAGK.

Beit known' that I,- TIIOMAS S. HARRIS, of the town of Lockport, in Will county, and State of Illinois have invented a new and usefulY Improvement on a, Wagon-Jack; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a. perspective view. y

The particular improvements I claim to have made are, first, the use ofthe double ratchet a acting conjointly upon the lifting-pawls 6 b, swung upon the pivot at the upper ends, as shown. I am aware of the use of a similar mechanism to this, inthis respect, that other jacks have been used having the liftingv apparatus and power` all attached to one side of the jack, while this raises on both sides, being an improvement over others in lifting upon each end ofthe pivots c and m, does not break them out or split the wood of lthe jack, lasts longer, and is of more utility and strength than others.' Second, instead of cutting a groove in the sides of the jack for the guides r r to run' in, I use the metal strips u n projecting at the sides to engage with the guides, which makes the jack-more durable.
