WILLIAM H. KERSEY, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA,' ASSIGNOR TO CLARK 8a ROBERTS, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, A FIRM.
TRAY-SUPPORT FOR PHYSICIANS TABLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 692,861, dated February 1 1, 1 902.-
I Application filed February 5, 1901. Serial No. 46,068. (No model.) I
To all whom it may concern.-
I Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. KERSEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Tray-Support for Physicians Tables,of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved means for supporting the instrument-trays in physicians tables.
The object of my invention is to provide a neat and efiicient tray-support in which the usual drawer construction is abandoned and the'several parts are so formed and arranged as to be easily accessible for cleansing and from which the tray may be easily detached.-
The accompanying drawings illustrate my invention. 7
Figure 1 is a plan with the tray indicated in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
In the drawings, 3 indicates a supporting frame or casing, such as is usually usedas the base of tables of this kind. The front of easing 3 is provided with one or more openings 4, one for each tray-support. Secured to casing 3, preferably inside of the front and adjacent opening 4, is a bracket 5, to which is pivoted at 6 one end of an arm 7. Arm 7 is provided at its outer end with an enlarged flat portion 7', to which is'pivoted at 8 one end of a second arm .9. Pivoted to the outer end of arm 9 at 10 is a tray-supporting frame or bracket 11, to one side of which is secured a board or panel 12, which is of such size as to fit within opening 4 of the casing 3. Panel 12 is provided with a suitable operating-handle 12. Frame 11 is provided with a pair of diverging arms 13, each of which is provided at its outer end with an upturned finger 13, the arrangement being such that a tray 14 may be placed upon the frame 11 and held in position between the two fingers 13 and the panel 12. Tray 14, as is usual in trays of this kind, is preferably formed of glass or enameled ware or material which may be easily cleansed. It will be noticed that tray 14 is thus free to be swung about the three pivots 10, 8, and 6, so that it may be readily insorted and withdrawn from opening 4 of 'the casing and swung to points of easy accessibility.
Any number of these tray-supports may be arranged within the casing in a manner exactly similar to the arrangement of drawers ordinarily used.
I claim as my invention 1. The combination with an inolosing casing having an aperture in the front thereof,
of a swinging arm pivoted to said casing adacent said opening, a second arm pivoted to theswinging arm, a tray-frame pivoted to the second arm, a panel forming part of said tray-.
frame and arranged to close the opening in the casing, means carried by the tray-frame opposite to the panel for engaging a tray, and a tray adapted to fit between said means and the panel.
2. The combination with an inclosing cas ing having an aperture in the front thereof, of a swinging arm pivoted to said casing adjacent said opening, a second arm pivoted to said swinging arm, a tray-frame pivoted to said second arm, said tray-frame consisting of a pair of diverging arms each having an upturned finger at its end, and a panel arranged opposite the upturned fingers and adapted to close the opening in the casing, and a tray adapted to lie between said panel and upturned fingers, substantially as and -for the purpose set forth.
WILLIAM H. KERSEY.
