WILLIAM N. MORRISON, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
o ENTAL BRACKET-TAB LE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 245,855, dated August 16, 1881.
Application filed November 8, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM N. Monar- SON, of St. Louis, Missouri, have made a new and useful Improvement in Dental Bracket- Tables, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being'had to the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, in which-- Figure 1 is a View in perspective of the improvement, the trays being opened out; Fig. 2, a central vertical longitudinal section of the same; and Fig. 3, a detail, being a top.
view of the inner end of one of the trays.
The same letters denote the same parts.
The present invention consists, mainly, of a case of triangular drawers, trays, or leaves constructed to open and close like the vanes of a folding fan, and turning upon a bearing that also serves to support a lamp or to form a burner, eitherforilluminating orheating purposes, the bearing being held upon an arm, bracket, or other support, substantially as hereinafter set forth.
Referring to the drawings, A A A A A A represent the various trays, drawers, or leaves in question. Any desired number may be used. In their general outline they are triangular. Internally the trays maybe shaped and partitioned to suit the particular work they may be designed for. As shown, they constitute' what may be termed a dental brackettable. 7
At their inner ends the trays are attached to and turn upon a bearing, B, which also forms the top of a standard, or which projects upward from a bracket, as the case may be. The bearing also serves to supportaheating or illuminating device,'O, and to supply gas thereto. The bearing is perforated at b, and the arm or bracket D is tubular, and furnished with a cock, E, to regulate the supply of the gas to the burner O. The bearingB is enlarged or provided with a plate at b, upon which the case of trays rests, and by means of a plate, b and nut 1) upon the upper side of the case the trays can be clamped together as tightly as desired, but so as to allow any one of them to be opened from the others, or so that all of them can be opened apart, as shown in Fig. 1.
The movement of the trays upon each other is regulated as follows; The trays upon one (No model.)
side (either the upper or under) are furnished with studs a a, and upon the other side are grooved, as shown at a a, Figs. 2, 3. The studs engage in the grooves, which are circular, and which are extended evenly on each side of the longitudinal axis of the tray just far enough for the tray to be, either to the right or left, entirely opened. Thus any or all of the trays can be exposed at will, and one or more can be opened in one direction-say to the right-while the other can be opened in the opposite direction. The case can also, by any suitable mechanism, (not shown,) be adjusted vertically and be swung around horizontally, as desired.
While especially adapted to dental work, the present construction is useful for other purposes. It can, for instance, be attached to a dresser-case, or be employed by a jeweler at his bench.
I am aware that various forms of swinging and revolving tables, trays, and drawers have heretofore been used; also, that guides and stops are common in drawers, clothes-driers, and various other devices, and therefore do not claim such, broadly; but
I claim 1. The folding triangular drawers A A A A A, attached at one corner to and turning upon the bearing B,.as and for the purpose of swinging the drawers to the right or left upon each other and exposing entirely any or all of the drawers, as desired.
2. The combination of the folding triangular drawers A A A A A having the studs a a and grooves a a, and the bearing B, as and for the purpose of entirely exposing any or all of the drawers, as desired, and of being able to open the lower drawers by swinging ,the upper ones either to the right or to the left.
3. As a new article of manufacture, a dentists bracket-table consisting of a series of
