SHOW CASE.
APPLIOATION FILED JUNE 27, 1911.

INVENTOR J zyzwzt Law 6 W/TMESSES:
ATTORMEK NTE STATES PTENT AUGUST LANGE, 0F PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
SHOW-CASE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, AUGUST LANGE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Show-Case, of which the following is a specification.
Objects of the present invention are to provide a case for cheese and other articles, in which the cheese or other articles are normally inclosed but which is automatically opened and afiords free access to all of the cheese or other articles when desired.
Another object of the invention is to provide a show case from which substantially the whole of the movable bottom can be projected, while at the same time the movement of the movable bottom serves to vertically raise the front or door, and to provide comparatively simple and reliable mechanism by which the extended movement of the bottom in horizontal direction can be applied in vertical direction for effecting a comparatively limited movement of the front or door.
F or the sake of description I have selected a preferred embodiment of the invention and have illustrated it in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1, is a perspective view of a show case embodying features of the invention, showing the case in open position exposing all of its contents, and Fig. 2, is a transverse sectional View showing the parts in closed position.
The case comprises two fixed sides, a fixed top and a fixed end and some or all of these parts may consist of glass. The case also comprises a movable front or panel 1, which is adapted to slide vertically in ways 2. The case also comprises a movable bottom 3 adapted to have placed upon it any desired article, a cheese being shown in broken lines. The bottom 3 is slidable horizontally in and out of the case. For this purpose it may slide in ways 4. An additional bottom 5 is shown, as are also hooks 6 and a locking cam or device 7, by means of which the case can be attached to the counter or other support 8, so that when the movable bottom 3 is drawn out the case may not tip forward. The ways 4: are shown as formed in side rails 9 spaced a little way from the sides of the Specification of Letters Patent.

case and toward the front these rails are undercut or cut away at their bottom edge as at 10, for a purpose that will be presently described.
11, are brackets secured to some fixed part of the case, as shown, to the rails 9, and they constitute pivots for two armed or bellcrank levers 12. One arm 13, of the bellcrank lever is telescopic and is pivotally c011- nected at its end with the movable bottom 3 by means of a pivot 14 which is accommodated by the space at 10 when the movable bottom is pushed in. The telescopic arm is shown as consisting of ways 24 through which the other part of the arm can slide endwise. Projecting at right angles to the movable end 1 and secured thereto are rods 15 and the ends of the arms 16 of the bell crank lever 12 have pivotal and sliding connection with these arms. As shown there are travelers 17 that slide on these rods and to which the ends of the arms are pivoted.
From the foregoing description it is evident that the movable bottom may be pulled practically out of the case and therefore have a long horizontal travel and that by reason of the described mechanical connections, this travel is much reduced in amount and applied for shifting the front vertically. All of this is advantageous because in the case of a cheese and many other articles, it is desirable to be able to get them completely out of the case so as to cut or serve them.
What I claim is:
1. The combination of a case having a horizontally movable bottom and a vertically movable front, a bell-crank lever pivoted to a fixed part of the case and provided with a slide arm pivotally connected to the movable bottom, a rod projecting from the movable front and having pivotal and sliding connection with the other arm of the bellcrank lever, substantially as described.
2. In combination a show case having a horizontally movable bottom and a vertically movable front, a bell-crank lever pivoted to a fixed part of the case and having one of its arms pivoted to the movable bottom, a rod projecting from the front, and a traveler movable on. the rod and to which the other arm of the bell-crank lever is pivoted, substantially as described.
3. In combination a show case having a the other arm of the bell-crank, substantially horizontally movable bottom and a vertically as described. 10 movable front, a bracket attached to the In testimony whereof I have hereunto fixed part of the case, a bell-crank lever pivsigned my name.
oted to the bracket and provided With a AUGUST LANGE. slide arm pivoted to the bottom, a rod prolVitnesses:
