ARTHUR MEYER, 'OF GENEVA, SWITZERLAND.
CARTRIDGE-BELT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 691,403, dated J' anuary 21, 1 902. Application tiled June 21, 1901.y SerialNo. 65,534. (No model.)
To LZZ whom, it may concer-ni Be it known that I, ARTHUR MEYER, a citizen of the Republic of Switzerland, and a resident of Geneva, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cartridge-Belts, of which the following is a specification. Y
My invention relates to cartridge-belts, the object being to provide an improved device of this kind adapted to fit perfectly around the Waist without being tightened thereon.
A further object is to provide a cartridgebelt made of two parts, which may be employed independently when desired.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a front elevation of a portion of a coat with the cartridge-belt applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a corresponding rear elevation. Fig. 3 is an enlarged front elevation showing a fastening hook and loop. Fig. 4 is a corresponding side elevation. Fig. 5 is an enlarged View of afastening-button.
The improved cartridge-belt comprises two halves a and b, each provided with a series of holders or pockets and provided at one end with a buckle c and at the other end with a strap t', provided with a series of holes for the reception of the tongue of the buckle. Each belt comprises also two safety-pins e, having hooks f, and a safety-pin g, provided with a button 72.. The two halves of the belt are connected vto each other by means of the straps 1I and buckles c. The pin g is fastened at the desired height to the back of the coat, Fig. 2, while the pins e are attached at the same height to the sides of the coat, whereupon the belt is closed by connect-ing the strap t' with the adjacent buckle, and it is hooked to the coat by Iitting the eyes 7c of the buckles c over the hooks f of the pins e and by inserting the button h into the rear buttonhole d, the front buttonhole d receiving one of the buttons of the coat. vWhen the front half of the belt is emptied, and when it is desired to bring the rear half to the front, all that is required is to disengage the loops d from the retaining-buttons and the buckles c from the hooksf, whereupon the belt may be easily moved around the waist and again attached to the coat, as before described.
Each buckle c is provided with a safety-pin Z,Fig. 4, made integral therewith and enabling said buckles to be directly attached to the coat without the agency of the hook-pins e. Thisfeature of my invention is very useful when one of the pins e has been lost.
The pin Z of the buckle c is pivotally connected to the latter at Zt in a manner similar to that in which a ladys brooch-pin is fixed to the brooch.' 'lhis is a great advantage, for when the pin is broken or bentit is easily replaced. l
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The improved cartridge-belt, comprising two detachable halves, buckles for connecting the free ends of said halves, eyes provided on said buckles, safety-pins adapted to be attached to the garment and provided with hooks for the reception of said eyes, a suitable buttonnole between the ends of each belthalf, safety-pins adapted to be attached to the garment and provided with buttons for the reception of said buttonholes and a safetypin pivotally connected to each buckle, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
ARTHUR MEYER.
