SOUNDING TOY,
'SPECIFICATION forming partof Letters Patent No. 677,113, dated June 25, 1901.
Application led Mayl'j 1900.
T0 @ZZ whom t may concern: Y l
Be it known that I, ROBERTY BRUCE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Allegheny, in the county of Allegheny and pression of the former creating the blast which is usually obtained by the blowing through a horn by a person.
Theinvention further aims to construct a:
sounding toy which shall be extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, efficient in its use, and comparatively inexpensiveto manufacture.
The inventionrinally consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim. Y
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specilicatiomand Wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughoutboth views, in which- Y Figure l is a perspective view of my improved sounding toy. partly in section, of thebellows, a portion of the horn being broken away.
Referring to the drawings' by reference-numerals, l indicates the body of the horn, providedwith the mouthpiece2, ,in which is arranged a reed V3.
The reference-numera14 indicates an ac- Serial No. 17,045. (No model.)
shown in the drawings, and to resume suchposition automatically after being struck. Secured to the walls of theopening is a rubber gasket 5 for forming a tight juncture with theV mouthpiece when the bellows is mounted thereon. The opposite end of the bellows 4- means of a` Hap-valve 7.
bellows is provided with a suitable handle 8.
When operating my improved sounding toy, all that is necessary is to compress the bellows, which will create a blast from the horn.
It will be observed `that ythe bellows is detachably'mounted upon the mouthpiece of lthe horn, so that'the former can be removed and fused for various purposes, and it is thoughtthemany advantages from an amusement'standpoint obtained by my improved toy can be readily understood from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, and it will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit, of my invention.
I-Iaving thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, anddesire to secure'by Letters Patent, is-` In a sounding toy, a bellows having two headsone of which is provided with a valved opening and the other 'with a tapered opening, a horn having a tapered mouthpiece to t in the tapered opening of the head; the bellows being of such material as to be selfdistending whereby successive blows in the valved end will sound the horn.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence oftwo witnesses.
ROBERT BRUCE.
