Description

o @einen tutti; @signi-mfp MORITZ GROEN, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR TO I-IIMSELF, H.'W. VOLKERS, AND GUIDO DOENCH, OF SAME PLAGE.
' Letters .Patent No. 70,418, dated November 5, 1867'.v
VETERINARY NARGOTIG INJEGTOR.
TOALL WHOM. IT MAY CON OERN Be it known that I, MORITZ CROHN, of the city and county of St. Louis, and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Narcotic Injector for Veterinary Purposes; and I do hereby declare that :the following lis a full and clear description'thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.` i
In this invention a common smoking pipe may be used, the said pipe being provided iwith a cover 4to the bowl, from the top of which there is a flexible tube, the outer end of which is terminated in a rigid nozzle suitable foi' injecting purposes. At the base of the bowl or stem of the pipe there isol small bellows, by means 0i' which airis forced `through the burning narcotic, in the pipe-bowl, to the injecting pipe.
The object of this invention is to produce a cheap and convenient instrument, whereby the smoke of some burning narcotic may be injected into the mouth or rectum of animals, for the cure of certain diseases in which such treatment has been or may be found beneficial.
l To enable those skilled in the art. to make and usevmy improved narcotic injector, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
The drawings represent the improved instrument in elevation.
`A is the bowl .ofa common smoking pipe, which isprovided with a cap, a, from the apex of'which there is a. flexible tube, B, the said tube being connected by means of the coupling b with a nozzle, B', of some hard material, such as is commonly used forsyringes. In the drawings, the coupling'b is show-nin section, so Vas to disclose the 'arrangement for attaching .theI nozzle yto the end orthe side of the 'said coupling, as may be most convenient atthe time ofusing. A cap, is usedto cover up the'orice notused by the nozzle B. At the base ofthe bowl there is a. stem, C, of wood, or some other non-conducting material, and to the end of this stem vis attached a bellows or India-rubber bulb, C. Y A portion of the back end of this bulb is broken out in the drawings, so as to disclose the small Hap-valve @,aiiixed to the inner end ofthe base-plug e', which is :perforated to admit air to the bulb. By alternately pressing and relaxing the bulb C air is'drawn into it through the vulve c, and expelled through the bowl A and nozzle B. l
Having described my invention, what I claim is- The combination and arrangement of therbowl A, the tube B B', and the bellows C c, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony of which invention I hereunto set my hand in presence oi` MORITZ CROIIN.
