ANITED Srnrns I arnNr rrrcnu ABRAHAM LINCOLN RIDGE, OF GATLIN, ILLINOIS.
TOILET ARTICLE.
QIPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 676,915, dated June 25, 1901. Application filed February 7, 1901. Serial No. 46,419. (No modeli) To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM LINCOLN RIDGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Catlin, in the county of Vermilion and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toilet Articles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has relation to improvements in toilet articles, and is especially adapted for the use of barbers, the object being to com blue in a single instrument means for effecting or accomplishing several purposes.
The invention consists in the improved in strument to be more fully described in the following specification, and the novelty of which 7 will be particularly pointed out in the claims.
I have fully and clearly illustrated my invention in the accompanying drawin'gs,where- 1n- Figure 1 is a view in perspective of my im proved implement, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof.
In the drawings I have shown the invention as comprising a handle of any suitable or approved material, consisting of springarms 2 3, said arms being connected at one end by means of a plate, as at 4. The ends of the spring-arms 2 3 are bent or inclined toward each other and are semicircular in cross-section and are adapted to grasp and hold the shank 5 of a pivoted member 6. This pivoted member 6 is preferably cylindrical in form and is provided at one end with a pair of spring-arms so bent and arranged as to form a pair of tweezers or pincers 7 and at the other end is reduced or inclined to form a probe or short-pointed instrument, which may be used for various purposes.
' The shank 5 of the member 6 is provided with pivot-pins 8, which are arranged to rest within suitable bearings 9, formed within the semicircular portion of the spring-arms 2 3. It will be perceived that by rotating the pivoted member 6 upon its bearings the cylindrical portion of the shank will force the spring-arms of the handle apart and allow either of the instruments to be presented for use. The arms Will then retract or resume their normal position to hold the instrument securely in position.
The plate 4, which unites the spring-arms of the handle, is formed with an aperture 10, said aperture registering with an opening 11, formed in a projection 12. This projection is adapted to set over the head of a blackhead or pimple and by a downward pressure remove the same.
It will thus be seen that I provide an im proved instrument which is novel in construc tion and which can be used for a variety of purposes.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A device of the character described, comprising a handle formed of spring-arms suitably united at one end, and semicircular in cross-section at the opposite ends, a pivoted member arranged between the spring-arms of the handle, said member being formed at one end to constitute a pair of pincers and the other end reduced to form a probe.
2. A device of the character described. comprising a handle formed of spring-arms suitably united at one end, and semicircular in cross-section at the opposite ends, a pivoted member arranged between the spring-arms of the handle, said member being formed at one end to constitute a pair of pincers and the other end reduced to form aprobe; a projection on the plate, uniting the arms and an aperture extending through the projection and plate.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.

JOSEPH E. HASKINS, F. LEW LENNON.
