DENTAL INSTRUMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 6, 1909.
Patented Mar. 15, 1910.
Serial No. 476,380.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD IV. VVALLAOE, citizen of the United States, residing at Lake Bluff, in the county of Lake and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dental Instruments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to dental instruments, and comprises especially a construction of tweezers, embodying in combination or connection therewith another tool for cleaning out cavities in teeth.
The object of the invention is to provide an'instrument having the parts referred to, which may be'very cheaply constructed by being stamped out of sheet metal, as well as having other advantages to be hereinafter disclosed.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which the figure is a perspective view thereof.
The tweezers are formed by two similar jaw members 6, which are secured, adjacent the rear end of one of them, by one or more rivets 7, the other jaw member 6 being extended rearwardly and curved to form an offset spoon or digging point 9. It will thus be seen that, aside from the rivets 7 which are referably made rectangular and elongate in the direction of the axis of the instrument, the present form requires but two parts, namely the two jaw members which may be stamped from sheet metal.
The tweezers will be used in the usual manner. The cleaning out point will be used by turning the instrument around and grasping the jaws of the tweezers, allowing the single point to be conveniently inserted in a cavity for the purpose stated.
The squared rivets may be made by cutting pieces from a flat ribbon of metal, and headed up on both ends by a press after be ing inserted through the other members of the instrument.
I claim:
A dental instrument comprising a pair of sheet metal tweezer jaws fastened together, one jaw having a rearwardly and laterally curved point extending from the rear end thereof.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
