The letter a represents an oblong plate,
, across the back of which is secured a bar b,
the ends of which are mortised, as at b. The bar b is provided with a central transverse perforation that receives a bar c, projecting across the back of plate a. at 'right angles to bar b and which has likewise mortised ends c'. To the bar c is attached a fixed handle d by posts d'. A double spring-clasp e extends over the back of plate a and passes under the bar b, which thus serves as afulcrum for the spring. The jaws c e of the clasp are placed at a short distance back of the edge of plate a and are bulged centrally, as at e2, to constitute finger-pieces. Opposite the jaws e' the plate a is provided with ledges ct', that constitute the xed jaws for the clamps, of which the parts e' are the movable jaws.
In use a mop, towel, cloth, chamois-skin, or similar body A is removably secured to the upper face of the plate a by havingits edges grasped between the jaws o. e. A removable handle Bis then sprung with its inwardly-bent prongs B either into the mortises b of the bar h, Fig. 4, or into the mortises c of the bar c, Figs. l, 2, and 3. In the rsl case the cleaner is used with its narrow sid up, and in the latter case with its wide side up, and being pivotally connected to its handle B may be drawn over ceilings, floors, Walls, windows, dac., with great facility.
If desired, the handle B is entirely disconnected, and then the cleaner is manipulated by means of the fixed handle d.
If the mop A is soiled, it may be removed and reversed or replaced by a clean mop.
What I claim is- 1. A cleaner composed of a plate, a clasp, a mop removably secured to the plate by the clasp, a pair of mortised bars extending at right angles to each other, and a removable handle having prongs that are adapted to engage either of said bars, substantially as specified.
