IMPROVED HARNESS SHAFTrLOOP.
To ALL WHOM IT MAY CONGERN:
Be it known that I, B. J. AURAND, of Mount Gilead7 in the county of Morrow, and State oi' Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Harnesses; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled i'n the art to make and use the same, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings, forming part ot' this specification.'
VThe present invention relates tothe eyes or loops of the saddle-straps to the harness through which the shafts pass; and the invention consists in making such loops or eyes of a wooden or metallic frame-or ring, provided with flanged orl raised edges 'bot-h upon its inside and outside for receiving and holding a leather band or bands thereon, as will be hereinafter'more particularly described, reference being had to the accompanying plate of drawings, 4in which- Figui-e2 is an edge view o? the loop-or eye; and

This frame or ring has raised edges or flanges a around its outside, `as plainly shown in Hg, 3 of the drawings, between which leather straps or bands B are passed so as to encircle the said ring, the inner band preventing the wearing away of the sha-ft by the wooden frame or ring A.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As' a new article of manufacture a .harness shaft-loop, constructed as described,consisting of the wooden or metallic ring B, having raised flanges a upon its outer and inner sides, between which are fitted ush with the periphery and inner circumference the continuous leatheriband andlinings'herein described. foi-the purpose specified.
