KITCHEN-CABINET.

Be itknown that I, REUBEN R. LAKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kempner, in the county of Lampasas and State of Texas,` have invented a new and useful Kitchen-Cabinet, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in kitchen-cabinets.

One object of the present invention is to improve the construction of kitchen-cabinets and to provide an exceedingly simple and inexpensive one of great strength and durability adapted to have its bins readily removed to enable them to be conveniently filled.

A further object of the invention is to provide a bin of this character having means for the attachment of an ordinary sifter and provided with a support adapted to prevent its lower end from coming in contact with the Hoor or other supporting-surface while it is being filled, whereby a sifter or the means for attaching the same will be protected from injury which would result from such contact.

The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a kitchen-cabinet constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the bins detached. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view illustrating the manner of mounting the bins.

1 designates a central casing or cabinet designed to be suspended from a wall or other suitable support above a table 2 and preferably provided with upper and lower Vdoors 3 and et, the lower door being hinged at its lower edge and adapted to swing downward partments for the reception of various articles and utensils employed in cooking and the preparation of food.

The cabinet orcasing is provided with a horizontal support 6, consisting of a cleat projecting from opposite sides of the casing or cabinet and adapted tobe engaged by hooks 7of bins or side casings 8, which are removable to enable them to be readily filled. The horizontal support may be secured to the wall or other'supporting-surface and serves as the means for securing the cabinet to the same. A pai-r of hooks 7 is preferably provided for each of the bins 8, and the lower portion 8 of each bin is tapered, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, and the rear wall is provided with a depending extension 9, projecting below the lower end of the bin to form a leg and adapted to rest upon the floor or other supporting-surface to hold the lower portion of the bin and the devices carried by the same out of contact with the fioor. The front wall 10 of the bin is vertical, and the sides and back of the lower portion 8a are inclined, the lower end of the bin being spaced from the depending arm or support, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. A cylindrical sleeve or neck 11 is secured to the lower tapered portion of the bin and is provided at its top with an extension 12, consisting of angularly-disposed fianges conforming to the coniguration of and secured to the outer faces of the walls of the tapered portion 8a, The lower end of the bin is provided with a slide or cut-off 13a, having a depending rear portion or grip 14 located in the space between the rear wall of the tapered portion and the depending arm or support 9. By arranging the cut-off in this manner it is out of the way both when it is open and closed.

The cylindrical sleeve or neck 11 is adapted to receive an ordinaryY cylindrical sitter, and it is provided with a resilient band 15, having an adjusting device and adapted to clamp such asifter on the extension or neck. The band has outturned ends, which are perforated for the reception of an adj usting-screw 16, suitable screw-threads being designed to be provided at one end of the band for engaging the threads of the screw. The other end of the band is engaged by a shoulder preferably formed by the head of the screw, and the said band is provided with upwardlyextending arms 17, designed to be riveted or otherwise secured to the sleeve or neck.

The bins are provided with suitable lids 19, preferably constructed of separate layers of material, as indicated in Fig. 3 of the accompanying drawings, the intermediate layers being preferably extended beyond the lowermost one to provide a ilange for supporting the lid.

It will be seen that the kitchen-cabinet is exceedingly simple and inexpensive in construction, that it possesses great strength and durability, and that the bins are readily removable and are provided with means for preventing their lower ends from coming in contact with the floor while they are being filled.

What I claim is- 1. A kitchen-cabinet comprising a central casing and the removable side casings having tapered lower portions and provided at their bottoms with means for detachabl y su pporting an exterior sifter, said side casings being provided with a dependent leg consisting of a continuation of the rear Wall of the side casings, and extending downward below the bottom of the casing and arranged. to project a sufficient distance beyond an exterior sifter to hold the same out of contact with the floor or other supporting-surface, to prevent such sifter from being injured when the side casings are removed, substantially as and for the purpose described.

2. In a device of the class described, the combination of a bin having a neck, and a resilient band adapted to clamp a sifter on the neck and arranged on the exterior of the same and provided With upwardly-extending arms permanently connected with the bin, substantially as described.
